- Hardie Albright's parents had a traveling vaudeville act, in which he made his stage debut at the age of six. He studied drama at Carnegie Tech and was a member of Eva Le Gallienne's repertory theater. He appeared in many Broadway plays before making his film debut in 1931. - His film roles declined in value after playing the role of Reverend Arthur Dimmesdale in a film version of Hawthorne's The Scarlet Letter (1934). He moved to radio roles and was heard on various programs while also returning to Broadway.
