Terry Alderton will leave 'EastEnders' later this year. The actor-and-comedian, who plays Bianca Butcher's love interest Terry Spraggan, has been written out of the BBC One soap following actress Patsy Palmer's decision to quit her famous role. ITV charity fundraiser Text Santa dominated Friday's (December 20) ratings outside of soaps, beating BBC One's comedy output over the course of the three-hour show.
The programme, which raised a total of £4.2m for six UK charities, featured ITV soap stars, singer Robbie Williams, prime minister David Cameron and This Morning hosts Phillip Schofield and Holly Willoughby.
Kicking off at 8pm, the show averaged 4.68m viewers, earning a 23.5% audience share.
BBC One's flagship panel show Have I Got News For You dropped to 3.71m (17.5%) at 9pm, after leading last week with 4.68m viewers. Live At The Apollo, featuring Adam Hills, Andi Osho and Terry Alderton, attracted 2.45m (11.9%) at 9.30pm.
The channel regained the lead with The Graham Norton Show at 10.45pm. Featuring guests Julie Walters, Len Goodman, Miranda Hart and Tinie Tempah, it drew an audience of 3.31m (21.8%).
Strictly Come Dancing: It Takes Two performed well ahead of this weekend's final.

BBC One's hugely popular Live at the Apollo returns for a new series next month, and Eddie Izzard and Jack Whitehall are among the comedians headlining the shows.
The BAFTA-nominated series features different hosts performing for 3,500 fans at the Hammersmith Apollo, alongside two special guests.
Izzard will top the bill in the first episode and will be joined by Josh Widdicombe and Trevor Noah.
Later in the series, Whitehall, Sean Lock, Last Leg presenter Adam Hills and Nina Conti will all perform.

Katy Perry has been confirmed as the special guest performer on this weekend's Let's Dance for Sport Relief grand final. The Us singer will perform her new track 'Part of Me' on Saturday's (March 17) show. Steve Jones and Alex Jones host the talent programme, which will also feature a performance from Jls with their Sport Relief single 'Proud'. Eight celebrities will be dancing in the final, hoping to take over from James Thornton and Charlie Baker as the Let's Dance champions. Laurie Brett, Tameka Empson and Terry Alderton have been voted through to the final of Let's Dance for Sport Relief. EastEnders actresses Brett and Empson were the first celebrities chosen to progress, as they received the greatest number of public votes. The pair began the show with a rendition of Lady GaGa's 'Telephone', which saw Brett wearing Coca-Cola can hair rollers and a American flag dress, and Empson in a red, white and blue outfit similar to that of Beyoncé in the song's video.
