- Les Allen was born on August 29, 1902 in Edmonton, Middlesex, England, UK. He was an actor, known for Heat Wave (1935), The Rosary (1931) and Queue for Song (1937). He died on June 25, 1996 in Toronto, Ontario, Canada.
- Allen's nephew, Singer-accordionist Eddie Allen, was a member of The Happy Gang from 1938 to 1959.
- As a child, he played clarinet alongside his father in the Queen's Own Rifles Band and later learned to play the saxophone.
