Initially worked as a cashier at the Egyptian Theater on Hollywood Boulevard. She subsequently signed with the Gene Nelson studios in Hollywood as a model for clothing, swim wear and lingerie.
During the war era, she was a sought after pin-up and was named, among other titles, Miss Night Fighter of 1943.
Her father was a fireman, her mother worked as an elevator operator.
