Mumbai, April 22 (Ians) Bollywood choreographer Ganesh Acharya shared how he choreographed the song ‘Pushpa – Jhukega Nahi Saala’ from the movie ‘Pushpa: The Rise’ and said that the inspiration for it came from people walking on the roadside.
‘Pushpa: The Rise’ is a 2021 Telugu action drama film starring Allu Arjun in the titular role. It also features alongside Fahadh Faasil (his Telugu debut), and Rashmika Mandanna while Jagadeesh Prathap Bandari, Sunil, Raj Tirandasu, Rao Ramesh, Dhananjaya, Anasuya Bharadwaj and Ajay Ghosh play supporting roles. The story is about a labourer Pushpa Raj, who smuggles red sandalwood in the Seshachalam Hills of Chittoor district in Andhra Pradesh.
Ganesh spoke about how he choreographed the dance sequence: “Whenever I am travelling by car and see people walking by or doing something on the side, I observe them and draw inspiration from them. So, I did notice that there were some people standing on...

Though far from the best Abdellatif Kechiche movie, “Mektoub, My Love: Canto Uno” is certainly the most Abdellatif Kechiche movie. Running just over three hours, the film is the first in a planned trilogy (number two is already finished; three has yet to be shot) that promises the definitive taxonomy of the “Blue is the Warmest Color” maestro at his best and worst. “Canto Uno” alone finds Kechiche returning to the themes and aesthetic approaches that have made him one of France’s most richly acclaimed contemporary voices, while at the same time seriously over-indulging in the leery excesses that place him among the country’s most controversial ones as well.

Varun Dhawan, who displayed his wild streak in his last release Badlapur, is leaving no stone unturned while preparing for his role in the film Dishoom that is being directed by his elder brother Rohit Dhawan. As a part of the preparation, he has already started taking Urdu classes as the role requires him to speak the language fluently. Besides Urdu, he will also soon start with police training under the guidance of action director Allan Amin and Hollywood action master Stefan Richter, who had earlier designed Salman Khan's stunts in Kick. Varun will be undergoing the training in Morocco, the very location where the film will be shot during July this year. Besides Varun Dhawan, Dishoom also stars John Abraham and Jacqueline Fernandez.

Roar: Tigers of the Sundarbans promises to be a high-octane thriller. The movie revolves around a group of commandos who venture deep into the deadly Sundarbans. The makers of the film, producer Abis Rizvi and director Kamal Sadanah roped in an Army veteran to train the cast to look like authentic commandos. From body language and behavior to the art of warfare, every aspect was covered. Abis wanted to stay true to the look and feel of the film and hence decided on hiring an actual commando so that the team can learn from the best. “As a producer, it was important to be involved in the process of making Roar at every step and for the cast to look like real commando on screen it was imperative that they train under an Ex-Army Commando as a part of the pre-production. After seeing the rushes I am very happy and pleased with the results,...

Chicago – In person, Oscar winner Forest Whitaker is a man at peace. His talent has created a demeanor of a guru – soft spoken with transcendent thoughts. His latest film is “Lee Daniels’ The Butler,” in which he portrays the title character. As a black man caught between two eras in American history, Forest Whitaker does relate.
Born on family land in Longview, Texas, in the early 1960s, Whitaker’s father staked a claim to the actor’s future by moving his immediate family to Carson, California. He went to college at Cal Poly Poloma on a football scholarship, and switched to voice and drama after a back injury. He was typecast as a football player in his first notable role in “Fast Times at Ridgemont High” (1982), but put such an interesting spin on the small part that breakthrough performances in “The Color of Money” (1986), “Platoon” (same year) and “Good Morning,...

Having discussed the Time of Puppies and Rainbows in the first part of our roundtable, Coming Attractions’s crackerjack crew of Game of Thrones experts now turns its attention to the nitty-gritty of television contracts, the difficulty of Daenerys Targaryen’s upcoming storyline (or lack thereof), and the huge news that A Song of Ice and Fire author George R.R. Martin will be developing further series for HBO in the not-too-distant future… which may or may not include Game of Thrones spinoffs.
Mo Ryan, TV critic for The Huffington Post:
As far as I’m aware, TV actors don’t normally have a set or minimum amount of screen time put into their contracts. Here’s something that is fairly standard in Us TV: an actor who is contracted as a series regular may have a “10 for 13” or “8 for 10” contract. That means that for the duration of the shooting of a particular season,...

After compacting, contorting, and shuffling around the second novel to make it fit within HBO’s mandated 10-episode block, showrunners David Benioff and Dan Weiss have been proactive to avoid the same type of scrimping this time ‘round: season three will only be based on the first half (or so) of book three, and each episode will have roughly five additional minutes of drytime tacked on, essentially adding an 11th episode to the roster.
This may go a long way to tamping down on the vociferous responses that the second season provoked last year, but, then again, given all the hints and clues we’ve gotten thus far about what season three will have in store, it may very well not make a whit of difference.

Aishwarya Rai Bachchan is back and looking more gorgeous than ever. The actress has been shooting for a print and TV campaign for a leading South jewellery brand across various locations in Mumbai over the last two weeks. This shoot comes almost a year after the last commercial she shot when she was six months pregnant. The set brimmed with joy from the spot boys to the lightmen to the technicians who all congratulated her for her baby and were so happy to see her back on set. It was also a nostalgic moment when she shot with ace cameraman Kiran Deohans for the TV commercial. Incidentally when she came back to shoot after her engagement and her marriage it was Kiran who shot her and now again after the birth of her daughter Aaradhya.
Commenting on this Kiran Deohans said, “I have got the pleasure of working with Aishwarya on Jodhaa Akbar.

Mo Ryan and Amin Javadi are nice enough to join us for the back half of the conversation, as we evaluate the overall filmmaking quality of the season (specifically in regards to its predecessor), the importance of the Battle of the Blackwater, and, most importantly, continue to go back-and-forth over the deconstruction of Arya Stark.

Winterfell has been burnt to the ground, the Imp has been stripped of power, and Stannis has been defeated – but there’s so much more that didn’t make the final cut, and more still to discuss and debate, regardless of its inclusion or omission.
There’s so much to wrap one’s head around, in fact, that a tidy little roundtable I had planned tripled in size and had to be split in two halves. For this first part, a crack panel of George R.R. Martin stalkers and TV critics tackled the inherent quality of the source material, A Clash of Kings; the filmmaking chops of Game of Thrones showrunners Dan Weiss and David Benioff; and the dopiness – or lack thereof – of the average HBO viewer.

Game of Thrones’s second season, based off of George R.R. Martin’s novel A Clash of Kings, is blissfully due to descend on us in just a few weeks’ time. And though anticipation for the show’s return couldn’t be higher, there seems to be a growing undercurrent of tension or concern among both the fan and journalistic communities. Showrunners D.B. Weiss and David Benioff have changed the name of Asha Greyjoy, Theon’s sister back on the Iron Islands, to Yara? The way-cool storyline the crippled Bran Stark has back at Winterfell might be cut and moved to the third season? Daenerys Targaryen’s minimal presence in the novel might be dramatically expanded – with action scenes?

Tried and tested formulas can weaken any film. Regardless of star power, chart busting music or excellent performance. But with the right people on board, and an innovative way to tell a story, your average film can become almost epic. However, Force doesn’t fit into this category. Even while we have John Abraham, Genelia D’Souza and debutant Vidyut Jamwal stepping into the roles of Acp Yashvardhan, Maya and Vishnu, originally played by Surya Sivakumar, Jyothika and Jeevan in the Tamil smash hit Kaakha Kaakha, all is not well. Nishikanth Kamat is no doubt an amazing director and each actor in their own right is talented. However, when put together with Vipul Shah backing the film in production, the sparks that normally you would expect to fly fail to make attendance.

Sanjay Gupta is back to direction after a gap of almost 5 years (he last directed Sanjay Dutt-John Abraham starrer Zinda). He is now back with a bang with Shootout At Wadala, sequel to his own production- Shootout At Lokhandwala. The film is produced by Gupta's White Feather Films in association Ekta Kapoor's Balaji Motion Pictures. Like most of his films, Shootout At Wadala too is a multi-starrer and the filmmaker has already managed a coup of sorts by signing Anil Kapoor and John Abraham as the main leads. John Abraham will be playing the role of dreaded gangster Manya Surve while Anil Kapoor will be essaying the role of Acp Isaque Bagwan, Mumbai's first encounter specialist. Besides Anil and John, there is also speculation that Vidya Balan has been approached for an important role and the actress is likely to give her nod. Shootout At Wadala goes on floors early next year.
