Chic Young. Al Capp. Jimmy Hatlo. Carl Anderson. Ernie Bushmiller. Alex Raymond. Roy Crane. Those are some names I remember, some 70 years later, with no help from Google, from the “funny side” of the St. Louis Post Dispatch, the newspaper that landed, rolled and bound with wire, on the front lawn of the four family flat where we lived until I was 10 or 11. By then I was aware that there was another newspaper, The Star-Times, the one that the O’Neils didn’t read, with its own funnyside and its own names and I may have even known some, but with the exception of Chester Gould, I seem to have forgotten these, maybe because I didn’t see them every day.
Somewhere in early grade school – ah, Sister Helen, what became of you? – I must have realized, probably gradually, that these names had something to do with the comic strips...

Actor Liam Neeson has raised almost $400,000 to renovate a theater in his native Ireland. The "Love Actually" star threw a glitzy bash in New York earlier this month, on January 10, with stars including Meryl Streep and Aidan Quinn turning out to raise funds to help rebuild Belfast's Lyric Theatre.
Irish performers Brian Kennedy and Conleth Hill entertained the guests, and Neeson, a longterm patron of the establishment, took to the stage to urge the audience to support the theater's fundraising campaign. The new venue will cost $27.2 million, and officials must raise 1.3 million pounds by June 2010 to receive further financial backing.
His theater renovation campaign aside, Irish actor Liam Neeson moved to Hollywood after he was offered a high-profile role in 1987 movie called "Suspect," portraying Carl Anderson. The Golden Globe Awards-nominated actor has played in several movies such as "Gangs of New York", "Kinsey", "Kingdom of Heaven" and "Batman Begins".

So I came back. Ash needs me, so I picked up issue 16 to see what a decent cliffhanger from 15 turned out to be. On top of that, writer Mike Raicht was slowly getting into the mix of things, and I believe in that guy after writing his quiet-cool Marvel Max series, Zombie. I believe in Ash, and well... alright, I’ll be honest. I sort of had “Ash Fever” after watching Bruce Campbell return to the new season of Burn Notice this past week. This fever happens anytime you see Bruce, as I’m sure many will agree.
And to my surprise, issue 16 of Army Of Darkness wasn’t that bad, at least, not as bad as the previous issue. The story was paced nicely, almost intense with our deadite-fighting hero stuck in the middle of a “Qt” situation with hungry deadite bears salivating outside a cabin in the woods...
