Skechers CEO Leonard Armato has denied reports that Kim Kardashian was "replaced" as the face of the brand. It was reported on Tuesday (January 10) that Skechers had originally scheduled Kardashian to appear in its Super Bowl advert, but had instead decided to use a French bulldog in her place. "Kim got us more attention than we ever dreamed. [But] we have to establish Skechers as more than a lifestyle company," Amato said at the time. However, he has since insisted that the company still maintains a "great relationship" with Kardashian and that the change was a scheduled one. "While Kim's contract with Skechers simply (more)...

Reality megastar Kim Kardashian is being replaced by a French bulldog for this year's Skechers Super Bowl commercial. Oh, well. That's shoe biz.
Kardashian famously starred in a racy Skechers Shape-Up shoe ad last year -- before the infamous 72-day marriage drama with Kris Humphries began. Kim has been slightly less visible following the backlash about her whirlwind nuptial drama.
Skechers Fitness president Leonard Armato said the decision to drop Kim had nothing to do with her split,...

Kim Kardashian won't be featured in Skechers' upcoming Super Bowl ad — that honor goes to a French bulldog — but that doesn't mean she's been replaced.
Earlier this week, reports surfaced that the shoe manufacturer had, uh, booted Kardashian as their spokesperson — she appeared in a steamy spot for Skechers' Shape-Up shoe that aired during Super Bowl Xlv — a move their president claimed was meant "to establish Skechers as more than a lifestyle company."
Of course, those reports also spawned a series of headlines suggesting Kardashian had been replaced in favor of the French bulldog (with some speculating her brief marriage to Kris Humphries was behind the decision). But according to Leonard Armato president of the Skechers Fitness Group, that simply wasn't the case.

Kim Kardashian has been replaced by a dog in her latest advertisement. The reality star, who announced the end of her 72-day marriage to Kris Humphries last year, was supposed to front shoe firm Skechers' upcoming Super Bowl campaign. However, they have instead decided to use a French bulldog. Skechers president Leonard Armato told USA Today that they are grateful to Kardashian for her support in the past, but said that the firm is focusing on its new GOrun shoe range being launched as high-tech running equipment rather than fashion items. "Kim got us more attention than we ever dreamed," he said. "[But] we have to establish Skechers as more than a lifestyle company." Kardashian is believed to be partly (more)...

Kim Kardashian and her overexposed family made our list of "Things We Want to Go Away in 2012."Apparently, one retailer seemingly agrees with us.Sketchers has dropped the reality star in favor of another spokesperson ... or should we say ... spokesanimal. This year, a French bulldog will be promoting their newest shoes on game day.The ad features the bulldog racing a pack of greyhounds in a pair of GoRUN shoes. Another reality star/mogul, Mark Cuban, appears in the ad."I'm not Kim Kardashian," Cuban told USA Today. "But one of the things I do know is high technology and how to use it."There's no love lost between Sketchers and Kim though. "Kim got us more attention than we ever dreamed," Skechers Fitness president Leonard Armato said.Skechers CEO Robert Greenberg went on to add, "While...

The other shoe has dropped on Kim Kardashian: She's out, and the dogs are in. Skechers, which featured the reality star in a sexy ad for Shape-Ups during last year's Super Bowl, will instead air a spot that features a French bulldog wearing Skechers' GOrun shoes, according to USA Today. The new kicks are part of Skechers' new high-tech line. "Kim got us more attention than we ever dreamed," Skechers Fitness president Leonard Armato says. Has Kim Kardashian's split with a basketball player now cost her a spot in football's biggest game?
Last year, the ubiquitous reality star featured in a sexy ad for Skechers that had more allusions to her infamous sex tape than football or shoes. This year, Skechers is featuring a dog in their Super Bowl spot. While Kim's ad saw her holding tight to a man, wriggling, posing, teasing and then showing off a sneaker, the company will have a tiny dog with shoes on racing a pack of greyhounds.
Quite different, indeed. But Leonard Armato, an exec with Skechers, told USA Today that it's less to do with Kim's bad recent publicity than their decision to promote a high-tech shoe, whatever that may be.
"Kim got us more attention than we ever dreamed," he said. "We have to establish Skechers as more than a lifestyle company."
