She and her husband adopted a son, Walter Russo (1956 - 2010). Walter followed his parents' footsteps as an artistic director in the Palm Desert Community Theatre for 17 years.
Husband James Vincent Russo was an accomplished Broadway director and producer.
Deciding they had enough of New York winters, she and her husband opted to retire in sunny southern California in the Palm Desert area.
In addition to her Hollywood career, she was also an accomplished Broadway actress.
