The school year is half over and Anna (Ella Hunt) can’t wait to escape to Australia, even if it means missing the Christmas show in order to work off her ticket at the local bowling alley. After all, she’ll be sharing the graveyard shift with John (Malcolm Cumming), her best friend and secret admire, who has Christmas spirit to share. As the show gets underway back at school, and singer Lisa (Marli Sui) takes to the stage, her boyfriend Chris (Christopher Leveaux) is across town at a local soup kitchen filming with class activist Steph (Sarah Swire) when violence breaks out in the queue. Former BBC presenter John Milne has died, aged 72.
The Scottish broadcaster worked at the corporation for nearly 40 years, retiring in 2007.
He was the first presenter of Good Morning Scotland on BBC Radio Scotland, before hosting Reporting Scotland for ten years in the 1980s and 1990s.
In the 2000s, he presented Newsnight Scotland on TV. He also hosted Newsweek Scotland before retiring at the age of 65.
Former colleague Jackie Bird said: "He was Reporting Scotland. I was in awe at working with someone with such a reputation, but he turned out to be warm and welcoming with a fantastically dry sense of humour.
"He was a true Scottish broadcasting great."
Milne was known to have helped mould Scottish current affairs journalism, and for his relaxed style of hosting the news.
