- During the latter part of his life he resided in a remote village in Wales.
- Because of his Aryan looks he was often cast as a German, most notably in Count Five and Die (1957), Orders to Kill (1958) and Foxhole in Cairo (1960).
- Appeared in Ireland's Dublin theatre festival in a production called Murderous Angels.
- Father-in-law of Alexander Hanson.
- Trained for acting at the Central School for Speech and Drama and first acted on stage in Edinburgh in the mid-50's.
