Once called "The Golden Princess of Broadway", she died broke and
homeless. A history of lavish spending and a series of bad investments had wiped out the $270,000 in inheritances she had received from her mother and maternal grandfather. In a newspaper interview from her hospital bed shortly before her death, she lamented "The friends I used to have won't do a thing for me and the ones I have now aren't able to".
