Lovecraft Country showrunner Misha Green dives into how the show’s horrors go beyond the supernatural.
“Like all horror that wants to leave you feeling unsettled and disturbed long after you’ve finished watching it, Lovecraft Country’s first episode is careful to take its time and make you wait almost until the very end for the series’ supernatural monstrosities to make themselves known.”

Denise Bryson was a transgender woman from the ’90s hit TV show Twin Peaks. Here are the ways her character was (and wasn’t) ahead of her time.
“While there’s a veritable infinity of ways you could describe David Lynch’s cult classic television series Twin Peaks, socially progressive is not typically the first phrase fans reach for. The show, which aired from 1990 to 1991, has been an enduring cultural phenomenon, but upon rewatching, not all of its choices hold up to scrutiny.

David Duchovny was not completely satisfied with Showtime’s Twin Peaks revival — and he wouldn’t have had it any other way.
The X-Files vet‚ who reprised his role as transgender DEA agent Denise Bryson in the 18-episode continuation, admits to TVLine that “yes, of course” he was thrown by the time warp-y cliffhanger ending involving Laura Palmer and Agent Cooper, before quickly adding that series co-creator David Lynch “is not trying to give you what you want. He’s trying to give you what you need.

In episode four of Twin Peaks: The Return, an older gentleman has an obscure conversation with Gordon Cole (David Lynch) as he escorts him to the office of FBI Chief of Staff, Denise Bryson (David Duchovny). Their scene together is short but just by his brief appearance Richard Chamberlain evokes a mass of associations in the viewers who recognizes him, maybe as Cannon Films’ Allen Quartermain, maybe as the ambitious priest with impure thoughts of Rachel Ward in The Thornbirds, or maybe as Julie Christie’s husband in Petulia. An icon of classic television thanks to his performance in the prime-time […]...

Twin Peaks Recap is a weekly column by Keith Uhlich covering David Lynch and Mark Frost's limited, 18-episode continuation of the Twin Peaks television series. There's a brief, very beautiful moment in Part 7 of the new Twin Peaks, during the scene in which hotelier Benjamin Horne (Richard Beymer) and his secretary Beverly Paige (Ashley Judd) are investigating a strange sound emanating from the walls of the Great Northern. Ben points in the direction that he thinks the soft, soothing tone is coming from, and for a second he seems to be pointing right at the camera—past it, really…toward our world, at those of us on the other side of the fiction/fact divide. A blink-and-you'll-miss-it breach, but it lays some subtle groundwork for what follows: The aesthetically and thematically provocative Part 8 fitted the Twin Peaks mythos into our very real history of atomic destruction. And this week's...

Twin Peaks Recap is a weekly column by Keith Uhlich covering David Lynch and Mark Frost's limited, 18-episode continuation of the Twin Peaks television series. What's an FBI Special Agent to do after being locked away for 25 years in unearthly purgatory? Episodes three and four of Mark Frost and David Lynch's revived Twin Peaks, which aired on Showtime this past Sunday in a two-hour block (aside from September's two-part finale, it's all single, hour-long episodes from hereon out), follow our besuited, Black Lodge-incarcerated hero Dale Cooper (Kyle MacLachlan) as he reintegrates into modern terrestrial society. So this is basically Peaks doing Rectify, just with a sterile death row replaced by an infernal hellscape out of Clive Barker. Or David Lynch, really. What's becoming more and more evident as the new Peaks progresses is that the series is, in large part, a repository for Lynch's subconscious, past and present.

With a huge cast and 25 years intervening between the original “Twin Peaks” and “The Return” on Showtime, familiar faces may not be all that familiar anymore. While Parts 1 and 2 reintroduced many of the main returning characters, whom you can reference here, the next two episodes that aired Sunday trickled in a few more.

Woo boy, Twin Peaks fans.
If you thought the first two hours of the Twin Peaks revival were weird, you haven't really seen anything yet.
Let's start with what is easily the David Lynch-iest sequence of the show so far.
The Purple Spaceship
After being expelled from the Black Lodge and taking a quick pit stop in the glass box in New York City, real Agent Cooper (Kyle MacLachlan) finds himself in a weird purple spaceship thing with a woman who is listed in the credits as Naido (Nae Yuuki). Her eyes are melted shut, which lends some weight to the idea that eyes are important in Twin Peaks -- Ruth Davenport (Mary Stofle) was missing an eye and it also appeared that Evil Cooper (MacLachlan) shot Phyllis Hastings (Cornelia Guest) through the eye.
The woman eventually disappears and Cooper encounters the shadowy head of Major Garland Briggs (Don S. Davis), who utters the phrase "blue rose...

Twin Peaks rediscovers its whimsy in episodes three and four. Here's a review from our Us chums...
This review contains spoilers.
Part Three
Part three of Twin Peaks: The Return feels like it marks an exciting turning point for this limited series. In my review of the first two parts, I said I found them intriguing but terribly unwelcoming, slow-moving and dour. The premiere engrossed me and piqued my interest, but I can’t say I much enjoyed watching it. I was left hoping for some of the whimsy of Twin Peaks’ past to find its way back into future instalments.
Part three begins with an extended sequence of mind fuckery in line with the parts preceding it but, after a long stretch of abstraction, things begin to move a little more quickly as more concrete plot elements fall into place.
To comment briefly on that opening sequence,...

Need to catch up? Check out the previous Twin Peaks recap.
Do you think, way back when Kyle McLachlan signed on to play Twin Peaks‘ buttoned-up Agent Dale Cooper, he could’ve imagined a time when the most interesting thing he’d do in an entire episode would be a spit take?
Yeah, yeah, I know. Because it’s a David Lynchian spittake, it’s elevated to high art. The spittake has meaning that I just don’t understand. It’s a callback to Season 1, when Coop & Co. all were standing outside by the chalkboard outside. All will be revealed.

In the last episode of Twin Peaks, Laura Palmer made a promise to “see you in 25 years.” Well, it’s been a torturously long wait, but that deadline has expired and the show’s much-anticipated return is now just two months away.
Typically for a Lynch project, we have absolutely no idea what to expect from this new series, with only a smattering of teaser posters to whet our appetites. We're only about two months away before the premiere of David Lynch's Twin Peaks revival premieres on Showtime. If you're as excited about the return of this crazy fantastic series as I am, we've got some great stuff for you to check out today!
Thanks to EW, there's a 40 minute special that you can watch here that features the cast and crew talking about returning to Twin Peaks and the road leading to its development. Lynch describes the film as being "a feature film in 18 parts" and Showtime’s president David Nevins adds:
"Twin Peaks is a cosmology. What I think is satisfying about the new version is that it’s a deeper exploration of that stuff. What is the Red Room? How does the Red Room work? Where is Agent Cooper? Can he make it back?”
Obviously, none of those questions are answered in the video, but it's...

The upcoming "The X-Files" revival is just six episodes, but those involved are hoping that this will be just the start.
Fox Mulder himself, actor David Duchovny, has been out doing promotion for the release of NBC's "Aquarius" and has discussed his pending return to the supernatural franchise with EW saying that he hopes there'll be more:
"I would be open to doing another cycle. I don't know that I could do a twenty-episode version of this show at this point in my life, and I don't know that Gillian could. But I think everybody is open ended on what happens after this. Certainly, we didn't bring it back with the idea of ending it."
He also says he's only just seen the first script for the revival:
"I got the first script this morning. I just read it about an hour ago and I started crying reading the first page.

Twenty-five years ago this week, Americans got their first glimpse of the small Northwestern town of Twin Peaks. They heard the chords of that theme song for the first time, and they had just begun to wonder, "Who killed Laura Palmer?"
The anniversary seems especially meaningful today because those same fans are wondering what will become of Showtime's planned Twin Peaks revival. On Sunday, series creator and surrealism purveyor David Lynch announced on Facebook that he had chosen not to direct the new Twin Peaks as a result of payment disputes. However, he cautioned that "Twin Peaks may still be alive on Showtime.

While we wait to see if Fox moves forward with their X-Files limited series, there’s another show that’s in development that I hope David Duchovny reprises his role in. David Lynch is bringing Twin Peaks back, and many members of the original cast are returning to jump back into this crazy world. Duchovny admits that he would also like to come back as DEA agent Denise Bryson.
In an interview with La Times, he’s asked about about if it’s really true that X-Files and Twin Peaks were coming back, and this was his response:
"Seems like it. I would bet on it if I were you. I think Twin Peaks is happening for sure. I hope my character comes back, I think she does. And then X-Files — Fox made some kind of shadowy announcement last week. Certainly, something's happening. Something's brewing. It's like the Eagles' greatest hits tour … by me.

David Duchovny is just as odd as his characters are! The former X-Files and Twin Peaks star is playing favorites on which shows he would return to. Last month we shared that he is not into a possible return of The X-Files. Despite of his hate for the show that made him, he would like to return to Twin Peaks‘ reboot. He played the transgender Da agent Denise Bryson, who was a fan favorite. Here is what he had to say about his hopes for reclaiming that role.
I think Twin Peaks is happening for sure. I hope my character comes back, I think she does.
This will certainly leave his fans wondering what he is thinking. That role didn’t really do much for him career wise and sure, it could be a hot topic now. But we would think a bigger deal would be to return to the...

Though talk of a new, limited X-Files series has begun in earnest, many have been asking David Duchovny the wrong series revival questions. Thankfully, the La Times went ahead and inquired as to the whereabouts of Twin Peaks’ Agent Denise Bryson. A bright spot in Twin Peaks’ infamous second season slump—which plays better upon revisiting—transgender DEA Agent Denise Bryson…

Actor David Duchovny made a name for himself as Fox Mulder on TV's "The X-Files in the 1990s, but before that he had a memorable short appearance on the second season of "Twin Peaks" in the role of transgender DEA agent Denise Bryson.
With Showtime reviving "Twin Peaks" for 2016, and with Fox considering an "X-Files" reboot, The Los Angeles Times recently spoke with Duchovny and asked him about what he's heard regarding the revival of both properties:
"Seems like it. I would bet on it if I were you. I think 'Twin Peaks' is happening for sure. I hope my character comes back, I think she does. And then 'X-Files' - Fox made some kind of shadowy announcement last week. Certainly, something's happening. Something's brewing. It's like the Eagles' greatest hits tour … by me."

February is here, which means David Duchovny's adult-fable book is here. But in even more important Duchovny news, the actor turned writer teased the L.A. Times about recent Twin Peaks and X Files reboot murmurings. "I think Twin Peaks is happening for sure. I hope my character comes back, I think she does," he said. "And then X-Files — Fox made some kind of shadowy announcement last week. Certainly, something's happening. Something's brewing. It's like the Eagles' greatest hits tour … by me." Duchovny played a DEA agent named Denise Bryson (formerly known as Dennis) on Twin Peaks. With Kyle MacLachlan returning, another dose of Denise would only be fair.

In case I haven't expressed this adequately: I am so, so excited for Showtime's "Twin Peaks" revival series. Truly overjoyed. I was a major fan of the original show and even the critically-lambasted prequel film "Fire Walk With Me" (despite the admittedly-weird "New Donna" phenomenon), and there are a bunch of characters I'm looking forward to catching up with. So who will return for David Lynch and Mark Frost's belated followup? With Monday's announcement that Kyle MacLachlan would be reprising his role as Agent Dale Cooper, it got me to thinking of who else I'd like to see when the show premieres next year. From Sherilyn Fenn's sultry Audrey Horne to the cryptic clairvoyant known as the Log Lady to David Duchovny's cross-dressing DEA agent Denise Bryson, below I've highlighted 25 characters I'm hoping to see when the show debuts next year. And true to the world that...
