- G. Larry Butler was presented with a prestigious award for his poem Here Lies Madness by Vincent Price in Orlando, Florida. (1986)
- Mr. Butler served 3 tours in Vietnam, one of which was in North Vietnam all the way to the coast of China. He retired from the Naval Special Warfare Group One after 22 years service.

- G. Larry Butler was involved in 2 productions which won awards: In 1998 The City of Los Angeles produced a PSA about Jaywalking in which he played a drill sergeant. That won a Cable Ace Award. In 2008 Ralphs Supermarket did a training film for its employees in which he played a wacky scientist. That won a Telly Award from the American Business Association. It was the Best Production of the Year.
- In March of 2011 Mr.Butler received a Certificate of Appreciation from the Los Angeles Board of Supervisors.

- On August 28th, 2018, George Larry Butler climbed to the summit of Mt. Kilimanjaro in Tanzania, the tallest mountain in Africa, at 19 thousand feet. He was one month shy of 69 years of age.
- G. Larry Butler has wiitten and performed Vaudeville music and comedy acts with his young daughter Bonnie Butler for several years as well as recited his poetry in various venues in the Los Angeles area.
- G. Larry Butler won a Best Actor Award at the New York City Independent Film Festival in June 2024 for his Lead Actor performance in the short film "In-Closure".
