The 28th annual Vancouver International Film Festival (Viff) will be held October 1-16, 2009. The 33rd Annual Montreal World Film Festival will be paying tribute to Canadian actor Pierre Lebeau. The Prix Jutra best actor winner in 2003 will be honored with the Grand Prize of the Americas.
Wff president Serge Losique said, "Pierre Lebeau is an exceptional actor whose career has left a profound mark on contemporary Quebec culture and I am very proud to honor him with the Festival's highest award, the Grand Prize of the Americas."
The festival will show his latest film, Roger Cantin's "Un Cargo pour l"Afrique." It will receive its world premiere in the competition during the Montreal World Film Festival's run from August 27 to September 7.
Lebeau won the Prix Jutra 2003 for best actor for his titular role in "Seraphin, un home et son peche." His film credits include "Bon Cop, Bad Cop" and "Les Boys" among others.
