Attention Chicago dancers! The Windy City’s longest-running in-house choreography series is back to inspire and amaze July 18–19 at the Athenaeum Theatre. For the last 14 years, Thodos Dance Chicago’s New Dances series has breathed life into the city’s dance scene by giving its ensemble members the ability to choreograph and direct their own pieces. The series has launched 132 exciting world premieres showcasing the talents of over 300 dancers, and its emphasis on producing every aspect of a dance performance, rather than strictly choreographing, sets it apart as a training ground for promising artists. This year’s performance, titled “Chicago Creates,” will feature world premieres from eight up-and-coming dancers: John Cartwright, Tenley Dorrill, Abby Ellison, Kyle Hadenfeldt, Taylor Mitchell, Briana Robinson, Alissa Tollefson, and Jessica Miller Tomlinson.
