Here at Tubefilter, we love to highlight Kickstarter and Indiegogo campaigns we want to see funded. At the same time, there are plenty of projects on both of those sites that probably don't deserve to see the light of day. 2040 is a satire of that second group. It follows its main characters as they attempt to crowdfund their titular film, barely succeed, and then watch it fly out of control anyway. 2040 stars three of its four creators--Brendan Fitzgibbons, Hailey Giles, and Arturo Castro--as the respective filmmaker, producer, and lead actor of an indie romance in search of Kickstarter funding. By the end of the pilot, the 2040 team secures the money it needs, but future episodes will see the project take a turn for the worse. "When they're forced to bring on Hollywood producers to back the film," co-creator Adam Rothfeld told The Huffington Post, " it slowly turns into a...

Have you ever wanted to disguise or alter your webcam identity and totally creep out your friends at the same time? A new "face substitution" browser application designed by Audun Mathias Øygard makes it possible. Image: VenusBuzz.com The facial recognition code works in real time, mapping the dimensions of the user's face and superimposing one of many available “masks” (everything from Chuck Norris to the Mona Lisa) from a drop-down menu. The result is just as unnerving as it sounds. Image: Prosthetic Knowledge Øygard's work was inspired by the 2012 art installation “Faces” by Arturo Castro and Kyle McDonald, which is equally disturbing – as you can see in the image below (visit Castro's website for more nightmarish examples). This guy, Arturo Castro, is a developer who works with computers and stuff. He demonstrated something called “real-time face-swapping technology,” in which he managed to basically put the faces of famous people on his own face. You can be sure that, when his face morphs into Michael Jackson‘s, it’s a horrifying prospect than the real thing, what with all those sharp angles and peculiar ornaments. At the very least, it’s a great way for you dieters to curb your appetite around lunch time. Or consider a change in career. [via The Daily What]...
