Richard Shepard, writer/director of the Netflix-released horror film The Perfection (read our review Here), and his co-writers Eric Charmelo and Nicole Snyder are teaming up again to develop a supernatural mystery called St. Donatus for the Peacock streaming service, Deadline reports. Charmelo and Snyder have written the script for the St. Donatus pilot, and Shepard will be directing it. The story is set in a small town in Iowa… a small town that, of course, hides a dark secret.
An unwitting family, relocating from Brooklyn, moved into a newly-renovated farmhouse on the outskirts of town. When the family starts experiencing unsettling occurrences, it brings them closer to the town’s secret… and the very thing trapped in their cellar.
St. Donatus is coming to us from Universal TV. Shepard, Charmelo, and Snyder will be executive producing the show alongside Sean Hayes and Todd Milliner of Hazy Mills. Yes,...

Warning: Massive spoilers for The Perfection ahead!
Netflix's latest thriller has taken audiences by surprise. The Perfection, a violent and shocking revenge thriller, combines body horror with a psychological revenge scheme to produce a deeply disturbing horror movie. And we're not exaggerating: it's disturbing, shocking, and completely bonkers. We're breaking down the details of the movie - and all its creepy twists.
Directed and cowritten by Richard Shepard (with cowriters Nicole Snyder and Eric C. Charmelo), The Perfection stars Allison Williams as Charlotte, a cellist who was once a rising star at an elite academy who gave up her career for a decade to care for her dying mother. At first, the movie seems like a pretty standard-issue psychological thriller in the vein of something like Black Swan. After her mother's death, Charlotte decides to attempt to resume her career. She reconnects with her former instructor, Anton, and meets...

The Perfection is directed by Richard Shepard and stars Allison Williams and Logan Browning as Charlotte and Lizzie, two classic musically trained prodigies who – on a chance meeting at a musical exhibition held by the benefactors of each girl, both of whom are showing off their latest star pupil – become entangled in each other’s talent. Together they slowly bond with deadly morally ambiguous intent.
Richard Shepard’s film is a thrilling haunting blast from its eerie start to its diabolically horrid and splendid climax. Splitting itself into chapters – in a similar style implemented by Tarantino in his filmography – and structuring itself into a series of five individual parts with aptly provided titles. The...

Do you trust Allison Williams? If you've seen her performance in Get Out, that question might cause you some hesitation. And that's Ok. In fact, now that her new horror film, The Perfection, is streaming, she's hoping that it does.
After playing Marnie Michaels for years on the HBO dramedy Girls, the 31-year-old actress has been working tirelessly to branch out into roles that prove she's capable of far more than portraying an uptight Wasp with a handful of frenemies. She's done everything from live theater (the titular role in Peter Pan Live!) to a clever and terrifying subversion of Marnie in Jordan Peele's Get Out, which sees her donning a mask of woke, white privilege before transforming into a straight-up monster as Rose.

Director Richard Shepard Tells Us How He Conceived, Cast and Shot One of the Year’s Most Insane Movies.
You might not see another movie this year like The Perfection. Making its debut last fall at Austin’s Fantastic Fest, the movie stunned audiences there with its no-holds-barred approach to a story that could probably best be categorized as psychological horror. But in a way it’s difficult to place The Perfection into one neat genre box: think of something along the lines of Whiplash crashing head-on into Audition and that might give you an idea what lies in store for you.
The Perfection stars Allison Williams (Get Out) and Logan Browning (Dear White People) as Charlotte and Elizabeth, two incredibly talented cellists who are both students at the same esteemed music conservatory run by Anton (Steven Weber) and his wife Paloma (Alaina Huffman). Charlotte was a...

Richard Shepard’s taunting, genre-bending The Perfection is tailor-made for Netflix. That’s not meant as a derogatory statement about the platform’s “Originals” quality as much as an acknowledgment of the film’s attempt to seize a water cooler moment only possible through its universal accessibility. Presented as multiple chapters that cloak a structure of two discrete halves, the problem is less the film’s fiendish compulsion to shock its audience with sudden body horror or its corkscrewing narrative than its design being seemingly reverse engineered to complete that purpose. This is the kind of film that’s made for online k-holes where YouTubers carefully dissect the ending for content. But the more that Shepard’s film reveals its fastidious intentions, the more it unveils its simultaneous hollowness and ugliness.

Perhaps best known for his films, including Dom Hemingway and The Matador, director Richard Shepard is also well-versed in television directing. Having helmed a dozen episodes of Girls, he must have hit it off with Allison Williams as she leads his new intense thriller The Perfection, which follows musical prodigy and her new pupil. Having premiered back at Fantastic Fest to much acclaim, it’ll now land on Netflix this May and the first trailer has dropped, though most have said the less known going into the film, the better the experience will be.
Neil Miller at Film School Rejects said in his non-spoiler review, “What I can tell you about The Perfection is that it’s a sinister yarn that is hell-bent on keeping you guessing, using narrative tricks to pervert the audience’s sense of the truth, all while being a phenomenal piece of entertainment. Aside from the monumental and well-deserved rise of Adam Driver, Allison Williams is on track to become the core “Girls” cast member with the second most interesting career. Not only did her pivotal role in “Get Out” launch her into proper movie stardom, but it seems to have sparked a real love of genre in the actress, a role fans are eager to watch her fulfill. Williams is doubling down on horror with her newest project for Netflix, a thriller set in the cutthroat world of classical musicians. Even the title, “The Perfection,” hints at a Type A character obsessed with success for which Williams seems almost poetically suited.
According to Netflix, “The Perfection” is “overflowing with dizzying horror and sly dark humor.” The synopsis promises “an elegant and terrifying suspense ride filled with unexpected twists and turns. When troubled musical prodigy Charlotte (Williams) seeks out Elizabeth (Logan Browning), the...

Thanks to The CW network, we have our first look at next week’s brand new episode of Supernatural, which is titled “Love Hurts.” The series has put its own bloody spin on Valentine’s Day in the past, as the horror genre is no stranger to doing, so it should be interesting to see what they bring to the table this time around.
From the footage given, we can see that Sam and Dean Winchester are investigating a case in which people have had their hearts ripped out, causing them to first suspect werewolves. As it turns out, next week’s brand of terror is actually a product of an ancient curse that marks people for death once they have been kissed. That sounds like the worst possible case of cooties to me!

The CW brass were hoping to keep Sarah Michelle Gellar into the fold after the cancellation of her drama series Ringer. But seems like the Buffy The Vampire Slayer alumna will be headed elsewhere. Gellar is attached to a comedy script set up at 20th Century Fox TV, as first reported by TVLine. I hear the untitled project, from up-and-coming writer Shepard Boucher (Men At Work), chronicles the hijinks of two moms, one played by Gellar, while their kids are at school. ICM Partners-repped Boucher wrote the project on spec. The agency, which also reps Gellar, showed it to the actress who liked it and came on board. In part because of Gellar’s relationship with 20th TV chairman Dana Walden going back to Gellar’s says on the studio’s drama Buffy The Vampire Slayer, the project was set up at 20th TV, which put in development. THR reports that the team behind CW’s failed show Ringer, Nicole Snyder and Eric Charmelo, have sold a thriller to NBC.
We don’t have much to go on, but it’s described as ”an untitled sexy Gothic thriller set in New Orleans that’s described as being rich with tradition, superstition, and murder.” Any show set in New Orleans immediately has my interest, since it’s such a rich setting. Hopefully it’s better than Ringer.

As expected, The CW have cancelled “Ringer” and “The Secret Circle” after poor first season ratings.
“Ringer” which was seen as Sarah Michelle Gellar’s big TV comeback after laying mostly low since those few horror movie hits she starred in after “Buffy The Vampire Slayer” ended, has struggled for ratings all season and audience numbers have fallen recently to as low as 1.05m.
The show starred Gellar in a duel role as two identical twin sisters in the murderous crime show from Supernatural writer-producers Eric Charmelo and Nicole Snyder that was described as an edgy thriller about redemption and revenge
Pam Veasey, the Executive Producer of the show said the show may not have had enough mainstream appeal;
“It was not… I guess you could use the word ‘accessible’.

"Ringer" airs it's Season 1 finale "I'm the Good Twin" on Tuesday, April 17 and according to producers Eric Charmelo and Nicole Snyder, it's going to be a bloodbath! We've got a wedding, at least three deaths and a cliffhanger. Whether or not the Sarah Michelle Gellar-lead drama comes back next season, it's certainly going out with a bang.
Charmelo tells TVLine, "There is the mother of all cliffhangers that is posed by the end of the Season 1 finale, and it's a great jumping off point for Season 2. That said, it will be satisfying and we will still answer questions. And by no means is the audience going to feel cheated -- it really, really delivers. It's going to satiate you, but leave you hungry for more."
Snyder says, "We had a specific drive and an engine for the first season, and this cliffhanger has everything change direction. It changes the motivation of certain characters.
