“What if I don’t like the guy I am now, bro” says Bosco (Malcolm Kamulete). “You have to learn to like him ‘cause you’re stuck with him” says Rusty (Keiren Hamilton-Amos). Watching family dynamics play out on screen never goes out of fashion and BBC’s latest drama Champion is proof of that.
A love letter to South London, Champion is the first TV project written by Candice Carty-Williams, author of the 2019 novel Queenie, which will also be released as a TV drama on Channel 4 later this year. Champion tells the story of the titular family, focusing mostly on the Champion siblings, rapper Bosco and his sister Vita (Déja J Bowens) as they battle with their sense of duty to their family and their own musical success.

In all my years covering television, I have only ever once cursed out an interview subject, even in jest.
This was back in 2009, when I was speaking with Russell T. Davies about the end of his tenure as showrunner of Doctor Who, and the launch of spinoff miniseries Torchwood: Children of Earth. Specifically, I had a bone to pick regarding the departure of Donna Noble, the blunt, hilarious, endearing companion to David Tenant’s Tenth Doctor, played by Catherine Tate. Going into the first of three 60th anniversary specials for "Doctor Who," fans had a lot of questions. Why was the Doctor (David Tennant) back in the body of the 10th Doctor? What has Donna (Catherine Tate) been up to over the past thirteen years? And most importantly, how can Donna return as a companion if her memory's been wiped? In season 4's "Journey's End" and in Tennant's final two-parter, "The End of Time," it was made very clear that Donna cannot be allowed to remember anything about the Doctor, or she'll die. Yet now she's back in the Tardis not just for "The Star Beast," but for two more specials.
Well, "The Star Beast" didn't solve the mystery of the Doctor's returning face, but it did answer all our questions about Donna. Where's she been all these years? She's stayed in London, still married to Shaun Temple (Karl Collins...

David Tennant and Catherine Tate returned to the Whoniverse this Saturday in the whimsically titled Doctor Who Special 1: The Star Beast, the first of three hour-long, Disney+ episodes designed to introduce the recently announced Fifteenth Doctor, played by Ncuti Gatwa.
This first special prefaces itself with a handy recap: For the good of the universe, Donna Noble (a returning Catherine Tate) cannot ever remember the Doctor. Her heroics saved everyone, but the price — all of her memories — meant that any knowledge of who she used to be would kill her. She has been living happily and obliviously for years,...

Praise Russell T Davies and his list of demands – Doctor Who is coming back to Saturday nights!
There’s no more guesswork required as to when the three 60th anniversary specials will air; the BBC has confirmed that we’ll get one a week starting from Saturday November 25, two days after the show’s official birthday on Thursday 23, and continuing on Saturday December 2 and Saturday December 9.
The exact BBC One time slots have yet to be announced, but common sense says that we’re looking at the pre-Strictly Come Dancing six to seven pm hour in the UK. If Disney+ is synchronising the streaming release worldwide, that would make it somewhere around lunchtime in the US. We’ll update as soon as the time slots are confirmed.
Each new extended special was written by Russell T Davies, with music by returning composer Murray Gold, and will be an hour long.

We've known for a while that the new, huge special episodes of Doctor Who will air at some point starting in November, but the BBC has until now kept quiet as to exact transmission dates. Well, the Beeb (and Disney+ for those outside the UK and Ireland) has finally let the cat out of the Tardis, with word that the first special, The Star Beast will arrive on screens on 25 November. Yes, that's two days after the show's actual anniversary on 23 November, but a prime Saturday evening slot.
The other two specials, Wild Blue Yonder and The Giggle follow on 2 and 9 December respectively. The new specials see David Tennant back in the role of the Doctor (though this time the official 14th incarnation rather than the 10th) alongside Catherine Tate, back as Donna Noble.
And they'll have to deal with a fresh take on classic villain the Toymaker, played here by Neil Patrick Harris.

The BBC and Disney Branded Television have set premiere dates for three Doctor Who 60th anniversary specials, and launched a one-minute teaser trailer starring fan-favorites David Tennant and Catherine Tate. The special anniversary celebration kicks off with “The Star Beast” streaming on Disney+ on November 25, 2023. “Wild Blue Yonder” follows on December 2nd, with “The Giggle” debuting on December 9th.
Disney+ offers this tantalizingly short description of the Doctor Who specials:

Doctor Who 60th Anniversary Special Trailer Reveals The Return Of David Tennant – And A Release Date
Are you ready for "Doctor Who" to enter its Disney+ era? It still feels pretty damn weird to see the Disney+ Original Specials label in front of a trailer for the British sci-fi staple's incoming trio of 60th anniversary specials, but such are the times we live in. Thankfully, that Mickey Mouse money is looking pretty snazzy on "Who" at the moment, giving the show's set pieces and special effects a little extra shine ... just not so much that a goggled Neil Patrick Harris wielding a cartoonishly large super-gun (and other fantastical visuals that are distinctly Whovian in their ridiculousness) looks out of place.
With Jodie Whittaker's run as the Doctor firmly in the bag, "Doctor Who" is about to undergo one of its traditional regenerations, but with a twist. Before Ncuti Gatwa assumes command of the Tardis as the Fifteenth Doctor, David Tennant will be making his much-ballyhooed return to the franchise,...

“Doctor Who” is looking back at its past. The long-running British sci-fi touchstone is celebrating its 60th anniversary with three new specials that bring back important figures from the show’s run, while making a big move outside the UK to Disney+. Now, the streamer has shared the full trailer for the 60th anniversary specials, ahead of their November premiere.
First premiering in 1963, BBC’s “Doctor Who” follows the titular Doctor, a mysterious adventurer from an alien Time Lord species who travels through the galaxy and time in his Police Box-disguised Tardis machine. Originally played by William Hartnell, the Doctor has the ability to regenerate into new forms upon death, and the character was portrayed by six other actors before the original run ended in 1989. After a 1996 TV film starring Paul McGann as the Doctor, the show was properly revived in 2005 with Christopher Eccleston as the lead. The series has...

Specials marking the 60th anniversary of Doctor Who have set their premiere dates.
The three specials, which will feature the return of David Tennant as the Doctor and Catherine Tate as Donna Temple-Noble, are set to roll out over three weeks beginning Nov. 25 — two days after the actual 60th anniversary of Doctor Who’s first ever episode. The specials will stream on Disney+ (which grabbed streaming rights to the series in 2022) worldwide with the exception of the U.K. and Ireland, where they’ll air on the BBC.
Disney+ has also released a new trailer for the specials, following a first trailer in September that showcased the saga’s main antagonist, Neil Patrick Harris’ Toymaker — a villain first seen on Doctor Who in 1966 in a now mostly missing run of episodes.
The specials find the Fourteenth Doctor (Tennant, who also played the Tenth Doctor from 2005-10) reuniting with Donna as they battle the Toymaker.

Exclusive: Mathieu Kassovitz has quit the Paris Has Fallen television series citing creative differences. He has been replaced by Spiral actor Tewfik Jallab.
Deadline can reveal the casting switch as StudioCanal has released first-look images from the series, which is based on Gerard Butler‘s Has Fallen film franchise and is shooting in London and Paris.
The eight-part drama is made by StudioCanal, War of the Worlds producer Urban Myth Films, and two companies behind the film franchise: Millennium Media and Butler’s G-Base. Eclectic Pictures is also attached.
Kassovitz, best known for his 1995 film La Haine, is recovering from a motorbike accident last month, though his departure from Paris Has Fallen was for creative reasons. Whether you're a long-time fan of "Doctor Who" or a relatively new Whovian that started following the seminal British sci-fi series after the 2005 reboot, you know that The Doctor's history is basically a big ball of wibbly wobbly, timey-wimey stuff. And after nearly sixty years of stories, you start to revisit some of your old favorites. For starters, Russell T. Davies is returning to helm the BBC series (which makes its debut on Disney+ internationally starting this year), along with former stars David Tennant and Catherine Tate, to reconnect with some of the most beloved characters of the modern era of the show before the universe meets Ncuti Gatwa's Fifteenth Doctor.
Not only will we see the "Good Omens" and "Staged" star back on the Tardis (this time as the Fourteenth Doctor) alongside "The Runaway Bride" Donna Noble in some capacity, but Jacqueline King, Karl Collins, and the late...

Doctor Who 60th Anniversary Specials Teaser Trailer: The Skinny Man Returns For One More 'Allons-y!'
It's time for a new Doctor in "Doctor Who," but when Jodie Whittaker bid the character adieu in the season 13 finale, "The Power of the Doctor," the regeneration process had a rather unexpected outcome. Rather than transforming into Ncuti Gatwa, who had previously been announced as the new lead for the long-running sci-fi series, the Doctor regained a familiar face: that of David Tennant, the Tenth Doctor.
Fans already knew that both Tennant's Doctor and his former companion, Donna Noble (played by Catherine Tate), would be returning for the "Doctor Who" 60th anniversary celebration. It's traditional to bring back previous Doctors for adventures like this, and Tennant previously returned for the 50th anniversary special as well. However, such specials usually involve having multiple versions of the Doctor working together through some quirk of timey-wimeyness; returning via a botched regeneration definitely puts a twist on things.
