It’s that time of the year and here at Asian Film Vault, we decided to have our first ever poll regarding the best films of the year. The votes were cast and counted and we came up with 18 films from 2017, that we consider the best of the year. And although Japan has the lion’s share in the list, we feel that we covered a large portion of Asia with our picks, since the titles include films from India, Thailand, Hong Kong, S. Korea, and Indonesia

Uma Thurman‘s custody battle is reportedly over.
Thurman, 46, signed an agreement with her ex Arpad Busson, that gives her primary custody of her their 4-year-old daughter Luna, reports Page Six.
“It’s a wonderful thing to have closure,” Thurman said Friday outside Manhattan Supreme Court, according to Page Six.
Busson will get monthly visitation with their daughter.

Thurman and Luna, 4, attended Cirque du Soleil’s musical theater show Paramour in New York City on Wednesday.
After watching the show, the mother-daughter duo went on stage to meet with some of the performers. Thuman and Luna were all smiles as the performers showed off their impressive moves.

Richard Gere and Carey Lowell’s four-year-long divorce has reportedly been finalized.
According to Page Six, the divorce was granted on Tuesday in Manhattan by Supreme Court Justice Matthew Cooper. Neither Gere or Lowell was present in court at the time.
Details of the arrangement were not disclosed, reports Page Six.
Gere, 66, and Lowell, 55, spent nearly four years hashing out the details of their divorce. While they quickly agreed to share custody of their 16-year-old son Homer, the two were at odds over finances. The two appeared in court numerous times to battle it out over the actor’s reported $45 million net worth.

Katie Holmes filed emergency motion to get immediate child custody from Tom Cruise. According to Hollywood Life and their sources, actress Katie Holmes is really looking to try and make sure that Tom Cruise doesn't get any type of custody of their daughter Suri,because the whole Scientology madness. They say, she's filed an emergent application, which will make their case go public in the state of New York as early as July 17th! The sources explain that it's " a motion seeking temporary emergency relief, which can include child support and custody. It also means that Tom is going to have to hire a New York lawyer. He can’t use his California lawyer anymore. The motion also means that both Tom and Katie have to be present in court on July 17th. A judge is now assigned to their case, which means it’s no longer going to be an out-of-court settlement.
