It seems not even magic couldn't help bring the ratings up. The CW has cancelled The Secret Circle after one season of 22 episodes.
A supernatural series, The Secret Circle follows teenager Cassie Blake (Britt Robertson) who, after moving to Chance Harbor, discovers that she is a witch and part of a young secret coven. The show also stars Thomas Dekker, Gale Harold, Phoebe Tonkin, Jessica Parker Kennedy, Shelly Hennig, Louis Hunter, Ashley Crow, and Natasha Henstridge.
When the season began, it looked like The CW had found the perfect match for their big hit, The Vampire Diaries. The premiere drew a 1.3 rating in the 18-49 demographic with 3.05 million viewers. These days, those are excellent numbers for the smallest network.
In week two, the ratings dropped 31% but were still strong by CW standards. Unfortunately, over the course of...

But is the big change permanent? Because I'm kind of terrified to find out how heartbreak will affect Cassie's already dark powers. I hope Cassie (Britt Robertson) and Adam (Thomas Dekker) enjoyed their first -- and potentially final -- night together, because it's pretty much all downhill from here. John (Joe Lando) showed up on Cassie's doorstep on the March 22 episode of The Secret Circle to clue them into the whole your-love-is-a-curse thing. Cassie tried to play dumb, but John was basically like, "Look, I know you guys had sex last night. Your lawn is covered in dead birds!" With the cat officially out of the bag, Cassie and Adam paid a visit to sweet/crazy Jane (Ashley Crow) for more information. She confirmed the couple's fears about the Blake-Conant curse, leading Adam and Cassie to down a special elixir that would make them forget how much they love each other.

At the end of the most recent episode of "The Secret Circle" (Thursdays, 9 p.m. Et on The CW), John Blackwell issued an ominous warning to his would-be murderer, Ethan: Their children's star-crossed destiny was a curse as much as a love connection. But the omen didn't come soon enough for Cassie (Britt Robertson) and Adam (Thomas Dekker), as the episode closed with the pair consummating their relationship as a portentous cloud of ravens circled above Cassie's house.
What does that mean for the show's central couple? According to Robertson and Dekker, nothing good. HuffPost TV caught up with the pair during a recent visit to the Vancouver-based set, and while they were enthusiastic about their characters' upcoming storylines, it doesn't sound like Cassie and Adam will be living "happily ever after" any time soon ...

The Secret Circle Episode 1.10 - No One Witch Should Have All That Power...
It was over a month ago that The Secret Circle went on hiatus, leaving fans thirsty for more drama from the Chance Harbor witches. Well, the gang is back and tonight they delivered a 1,2 punch to the jaw with Cassie's beginning trek to the dark side and Faye's quest for personal power. Also, we met Diana's grandmother and Charles's mother, Kate (Stepfanie Kramer), an Elder who has the nose of a genetically enhanced greyhound, which didn't bode well for Dawn.
The Devil Inside
The mystery of Cassie's 'darkness' dominated the hour and our undivided attention as we learned just how much powerful Cassie could be. Plus, Dawn and Charles aren't the only adults looking to tap into Cassie's power. Grandmother Kate, and seemingly the other Elders, want to harness Cassie's energy to help balance the scales between good and evil.

If you saw last night’s Fall finale of The Secret Circle, then you are now also pondering the possibilities of what Isaac (the witch-hunter) meant when he referred to the fact that Cassie Blake is not the only witch in her Circle to be a Blackwell heir.
Combined with the revelation that Dawn Chamberlain used to have a “thing” or crush on John Blackwell, prior to his demise, it leads viewers to believe the obvious choice is that Faye must be a Balcoin descendant.
But, when asked point-blank during the Q&A with executive producer Andrew Miller and star Gale Harold during a special screening of “Balcoin,” the answer was not so easily defined. Perhaps Dawn’s infatuation and Faye’s desire to have power of her own outside the Circle is a red-herring. Andrew cagily would not commit one way or the other on the lineage of Faye,...

Just yesterday we were grumbling about the lack of extras The CW was providing fans for this week's episode of "The Secret Circle", and they must have heard us loud and clear because in addition to the huge image gallery we posted last night, they've now dropped in our laps two clips and a preview video with Executive Producer Andrew Miller, in which he reveals some secrets about tonight's Episode 1.08, "Beneath".

Halloween falls on a Monday this year, which means the holiday episodes of most TV shows are airing the week before, including those on The CW, but that doesn't mean genre fans don't have more to look forward to, as evidenced by the just released synopses of "The Vampire Diaries" Episode 3.08, "Ordinary People", and "The Secret Circle" Episode 1.08, "Beneath", both airing on November 3rd. "Supernatural" Episode 7.07, "The Mentalists", which bows November 4th, isn't sounding too shabby either.
Episode 3.08 "Ordinary People" (11/3/11 Air Date; 8:00-9:00 Pm):
The Original Family — With help from Elena (Nina Dobrev) and Bonnie (Kat Graham), Alaric (Matt Davis) tries to decipher the meaning behind his recent discovery.
Elena (Nina Dobrev) and Rebekah (guest star Claire Holt) engage in a mean-girl power struggle, until Rebekah finally reveals some of her family’s ancient secrets and the violent past she shares with Klaus (Joseph Morgan) and Elijah...

In what should come as no surprise to anyone, The CW has announced a full season order for its rookie series "The Secret Circle". If you're a fan of the show, why not celebrate by watching the just released preview of tomorrow night's Episode 1.05, "Slither", hosted by executive producer Andrew Miller?
Per The CW's president Mark Pedowitz, the order was given to "The Secret Circle" along with two of the network's other freshmen series, "Ringer" and "Hart of Dixie". “We believe in the creative strength of these dramas, and by giving them back-nine orders, we can give our audience the chance to enjoy complete seasons of all three of them,” he said. “With compelling storylines, engaging characters, and tremendous buzz, we firmly believe that Hart of Dixie, Ringer, and The Secret Circle can become signature series for The CW, the kind of top-notch shows that are synonymous with our brand.

Last night saw the return of The CW's most popular show, "The Vampire Diaries" (which was every bit as good as we were hoping), along with the series premiere of "The Secret Circle" (the jury's still out on this one, but it does show promise, especially thanks to the adult characters Ethan and Charles); and as expected, they made a magical pair ratings-wise for the network. Along with the Live Plus Same Day Nielsen info for those of you who like reading that sort of thing, we have preview videos of the second installments of both shows to share - "The Hybrid" for "Tvd" and "Bound" for "Tsc".

The Vampire Diaries is The CW's biggest TV series so it makes sense that they're trying to duplicate that success. What better way to do it than to produce another show that's based on a series of books from author L.J. Smith.
The Secret Circle revolves around a normal teenager named Cassie (Britt Robertson) who loses her mother in a tragic fire. Cassie moves to a beautiful small town in Washington to live with her grandmother (Ashley Crow). At high school, she connects with a number of classmates; sweet-natured Diana Meade (Shelly Hennig) and her handsome boyfriend, Adam Conant (Thomas Dekker); brooding loner Nick (Louis Hunter); mean-girl Faye Chamberlain (Phoebe Tonkin) and her sidekick, Melissa (Jessica Parker Kennedy). Soon, strange and frightening things begin to happen and Cassie learns that she and her friends have incredible powers. Unsurprisingly, there's some darker powers at play as well.

If there’s one thing The CW has taught us over the years, it’s that being a teen ain’t easy. Sure, you might be pretty and have a trendy outfit for every occasion (despite having no discernible means of income), and chances are you have a car. But, gosh darn it, there’s always, like, someone out to turn you into a vampire or steal your soul or turn you into a secret agent or set your car on fire with magic.
Yup, being a teen is tough.
But if there’s another thing The CW has taught us over the years, it’s that mixing teen angst with a healthy dose of creepy goings-on makes for a heady brew that can be downright entertaining. With The Secret Circle, we got all that and more in a quick-paced hour that, if not exactly pushing any envelopes, at least...

The Secret Circle is the CW's latest entry into TV's supernatural sweepstakes. Based on a book by the author of The Vampire Diaries and executive produced by out Kevin Williamson, the network hopes to capture the same magic again that propelled Tvd into a hit.
Our protagonist Cassie (Britt Robertson), having been orphaned when her mother Amelia is magicked to death in a fire by a dastardly stranger, moves to a seaside town to live with her grandmother Jane (Ashley Crow), who we can tell is a “free spirit” by her unruly mane of curly locks and her vast assortment of jaunty scarves. Cassie has meet-cutes with the rest of the teenage cast except for neighbor Nick (Louis Hunter), who instead ups the creep factor by staring at Cassie in her bedroom from his house.

I’ll admit that The Secret Circle is not made for dudes in their early 30′s. There’s nothing in The CW’s new supernatural series (based on the book of the same name by L.J. Smith) that will make me nor my fellow nerd-bros follow this show religiously and come back to check in on the teen characters that populate Chance Harbor, Washington. But I see how this can hook a tween — boys and girls — who are looking for a harmless introduction in fantasy nerddom. I get it. There are some tweens who don’t want to get into the hard stuff like Doctor Who, The Twilight Zone, or even the Harry Potter series right away. They want to easy into. That’s the role The Secret Circle plays. And that’s not to say that it is a bad show. It’s far from it. It has a...

Much like those pesky robots sent from the future to protect John Connor on Fox’s now defunct action adventure that was Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles, Thomas Dekker is back. Yet unlike his previous role that saw the young actor spend the better part of two seasons struggling to accept the responsibility that comes with being singled out as humanity’s last hope, his newest character is only too happy to bear the burden. Which was just one of the reasons Dekker decided to return to the small screen as Adam, the de facto leader of the titular Coven on the CW’s much-anticipated companion piece to The Vampire Diaries, The Secret Circle. But just what else attracted him to the role following a two and a half year absence spent shooting movies? We caught up with Dekker at the recent Television Critics Association Press Tour in Los Angeles to find out just that.

From everything we're hearing about "The Secret Circle", it sounds like once we get through the first couple of episodes, we can expect shit to be hitting the fan in typical Kevin Williamson fashion. First, though, we have to get to know the characters, and helping in that regard is today's video interview with Jessica Parker Kennedy, who introduces us to Melissa, bad girl Faye's best friend.
Be sure to tune in to The CW next Thursday, September 15th, for the season premiere of "The Secret Circle"!

Thanks to his star-making role on Queer As Folk, actor Gale Harold knows a thing or two about playing the bad boy. Just don’t tell him that.
“Brian Kinney wasn’t an a**hole, I just think he didn’t care about toeing the line. He wanted to be himself, he simply wasn’t willing to take a back seat or entertain anyone else’s idea of right and wrong and he didn’t hesitate to let that be known,” explained Harold when asked during the recent Television Critics Association Press Tour about his penchant for playing the character fans love to hate. “So I don’t think he was a bad guy at all. In fact, he was a very very heroic character that took care of himself and lived to be what he thought what he wanted to be.”
Luckily for Harold, it’s that kind of...
