Italian author Antonio Dikele Distefano, who grew up in the northern Italian city of Ravenna, is the originator of new Netflix Original series “Zero,” which marks the first series centered around the present-day lives of Black Italian youth. The groundbreaking skein centers on a shy Black kid named Zero who can become invisible, and uses his superpower to try and save Milan’s Barrio neighborhood from gentrification.

The 28-year-old Distefano, who was born in Italy to Angolan parents, co-wrote the series, which was inspired by one of his books. The show was also created by comic book artist and screenwriter Menotti together with Stefano Voltaggio (who is also its creative executive producer), Massimo Vavassori, Carolina Cavalli and Lisandro Monaco.

This TV show is set during the Prohibition Era in New Jersey and is based on the Nelson Johnson book, Boardwalk Empire: The Birth, High Times, and Corruption of Atlantic City. Martin Scorsese directed the pilot and continues to be involved with the production.

Boardwalk Empire continues to lay the groundwork for the first season tonight with episode 2, Ivory Tower. Boardwalk Empire Season 1 Episode 2: “The Ivory Tower” Debut: Sunday, Sept. 26 (9:00-10:00 p.m. Et/Pt) Investigating a crime which he feels has been pinned on a scapegoat, straight-arrow Agent Nelson Van Alden (Michael Shannon) pays a visit to Nucky and leaves convinced that the Treasurer is “as corrupt as the day is long.” Nucky quickly does damage control, enlisting his brother, Sheriff Elias Thompson (Shea Whigham), to close ranks with their underlings. Just two days after HBO debuted their new series, Boardwalk Empire, the pay-for-view channel has renewed it for a second season. The show gave HBO their largest premiere since Deadwood's in 2004 so they're wasting no time in ordering more.

Boardwalk Empire takes place during the Prohibition Era and stars Steve Buscemi as Enoch "Nucky" Thompson, Atlantic City's treasurer and a backroom dealer who can get things done. Boardwalk Empire is one of my most anticipated new TV series, and it's coming to HBO. The show was created by Terence Winter and Martin Scorsese and it explores Atlantic City in the roaring '20s during the prohibition. It will detail the life and exploits of Nucky Thompson who is based on the real life person Enoch "Nucky" Johnson, the "boss" of the Republican political machine that controlled Atlantic City from 1911 to 1941. The amazing cast includes Steve Buscemi, Gretchen Mol, Michael Shannon, Michael Pitt, Michael K. Williams and Dabney Coleman.

The latest teaser from HBO for its new show "Boardwalk Empire" gives a sense of the field its lead character is playing on -- and this is no small-time guy.

Nucky Thompson (Steve Buscemi) runs the liquor business in Atlantic City, N.J., at the dawn of Prohibition in 1920, thanks to -- as he says in the newest trailer for the series -- "those beautiful, ignorant b***ards" in Congress. He and his political/criminal cronies are toasting to the idea of all the money that will flow from the illegal liquor trade, but every other gangster in the country has the same idea.

Coming to HBO in America this Autumn is Boardwalk Empire, a prohibition drama adapted by Terence Winter (The Sopranos) from a Nelson Johnson book. The pilot is directed by Martin Scorsese and the series has currently been picked up for twelve episodes. I’m really hoping this comes to the UK soon as I’m really looking forward to it.

The preview looks great and Steve Buscemi as Enoch “Nucky” Thompson looks on top form. With the attention to period detail, the impressive cast and the various people involved in this series behind the scenes I’m sure this is going to be fantastic.
