Ann Curry has weighed in on the ongoing Megyn Kelly/Jane Fonda drama — and she thinks Kelly’s decision to blast the actress on air this week was “not journalism.”
“Journalists are not supposed to be the story,” the former Today show anchor said during a Tuesday appearance on The View. “We’re supposed to be — and it’s a struggle, I think, for everyone to be — but we’re supposed to be humble. We’re supposed to use whatever time we’re given to shine a light on other stories. I mean, there are so many stories that we’re not covering.

Ann Curry ostensibly appeared on CBS' The Late Show to promote her six-part PBS docu-series, We'll Meet Again—but, to no one's surprise, Stephen Colbert was more interested in discussing her tenure at NBC's Today and her former co-anchor Matt Lauer, who was fired from NBC News in November amid allegations of sexual misconduct. (Lauer quickly apologized for his behavior, although he also maintained that "some" of the allegations were "untrue or mischaracterized.") Colbert claimed brought up reports that Lauer "forced" Curry off Today in 2012, which she declined to confirm or deny. "Mmm," she said. While she signed a nondisclosure agreement, "I can talk. For a decade, no other network could come close to capturing the magic being made by Katie Couric and Matt Lauer over at Today. The congenial pair just meshed perfectly, and together with news anchor Ann Curry and weatherman Al Roker they formed the Fab Four of morning TV—and they had the ratings to prove it. By May 1998, a year after Lauer replaced Bryant Gumbel as Couric's permanent co-anchor, 5.26 million people a day were tuning in. They had not only added almost a million viewers since the same time in 1996, but they were more than 2 million ahead of second-place Good Morning America. NBC's flagship morning show was firing on all cylinders. To be sure,...

Though news of Matt Lauer's shocking firing from the Today show last Wednesday over "inappropriate sexual behavior in the workplace" rocked the nation, it's not the first time the NBC morning show has caused plenty of controversy.

Before the bombshell allegations of sexual misconduct that led to Matt Lauer's firing from the Today show by NBC, he and former co-host Savannah Guthrie had grown close professionally in their five years of working together.

Just one day after it was announced that he was fired from the Today show, Matt Lauer was out and about in East Hampton, New York, where his family resides.
Dressed in a navy blue sweater, jeans, brown boots and dark sunglasses, the 59-year-old newsman was seen getting out of his Jeep to meet with a man in a gray suit.
After hugging the gentleman, Lauer handed him a piece of paper before getting back into his vehicle and driving off. An eyewitness tells Et that the TV personality appeared “sad and sheepish” and “did not look happy” during the exchange.
The man in the suit is apparently criminal defense attorney Eddie Burke, Jr. According to his law firm's website, Burke and his associates have "been involved in high profile cases as well as several high verdict negligence cases that have been the topic of articles and discussions in national media."

In an interview with People, Curry revealed that she's "still really processing" Lauer's firing, but said that the actions taken by NBC News demonstrate that "the battle lines are now clear" regarding workplace conduct.
"The women's movement got us into the workplace, but it didn't make us safe once we got there. And the battle lines are now clear," she shared. "We need to move this revolution forward and make our workplaces safe. Corporate America is quite clearly failing to do so, and unless it does something to change that, we need to keep doing more ourselves."
“I admire the women who have been willing to speak up both anonymously and on the record. Those women need to keep their jobs, and all women need to be able to work, to be able to...

Today show fans were stunned on Wednesday morning, when co-anchor Savannah Guthrie announced that Matt Lauer had been fired from the long-running morning show for "inappropriate sexual behavior."
NBC News chairman Andy Lack also revealed in a letter to staff that Lauer had been accused by a female colleague of “inappropriate sexual behavior in the workplace," and after a "serious review," called Lauer's alleged actions a "clear violation of our company's standards." Lauer was then immediately fired.

"Our highest priority is to create a workplace environment where everyone feels safe and protected and to ensure that any actions that run counter to our core values are met with consequences no matter who the offender. NBC knew its day of Matt Lauer reckoning was coming. It just didn’t think it would end like this: Abrupt and in disgrace.
Lauer was in the middle of a two-year contract extension, signed last November, that kept him at the helm of “Today” through November 2018 at around $20 million a year. But Lauer’s tenure at “Today” frequently seemed precariously close to ending, as NBC groomed countless potential replacements while extending his contract.
Now, Lauer is the second morning-show anchor, following “CBS This Morning” host Charlie Rose, to be fired in recent weeks following reports and accusations of sexual harassment.
The departures could upend the tight morning-show race, particularly the competition for first place between “Today” and ABC’s “Good Morning America.” The daypart makes as much as $1 billion annually, and “Today,” as the demo leader, takes the largest slice of that cash pie.

I devoted a good chunk of my extended Memorial Day weekend to devouring Season 5 of House of Cards, and much to my surprise, it was (mostly) time well spent. Below, 10 snappy judgments/musings in no particular order.
1. It almost always marks the beginning of the end for a series when its original creator moves on, so when Beau Willimon suddenly and inexplicably departed at the conclusion of Season 4 and passed the showrunner reins to EPs Melissa James Gibson and Frank Pugliese, my Gilmore Girls/West Wing baggage was wheeled out of the closet. Consequently, I entered Season 5 with low expectations — and was rewarded for it!

Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie are currently in the midst of a divorce, but once upon a time, they were one of the biggest power couples in Hollywood. Brad and Angelina tied the knot in France in August 2014, but their romance actually began long before then. The duo, who has six kids together (Maddox, Pax, Shiloh, Zahara, and twins Vivienne and Knox), first got together after meeting on the set of 2005's Mr. and Mrs. Smith. While it may seem harmless enough, Brad was technically still married to Jennifer Aniston. The pair insisted there was no affair, and Angelina even told Ann Curry in a Today show interview that she could never forgive herself if she was ever intimate with a married man "when my own father cheated on my mother." "I could not look at myself in the morning if I did that. I wouldn't be attracted to a...
