Donna Hosie's The Devil's Intern builds a world that Kaci wants to return to, in this month's fiction book club choice...
I'm of two minds when it comes to this book. On the one hand, it has some captivating world building and most of the characters are interesting and likeable. On the other, I feel like it focuses on the wrong plot, if that makes sense. By that I mean that stories about not changing the past have been told over and over again, so the idea of not changing their deaths, however unfair, isn't exactly new ground. The plot to deal with Hell's overcrowding and get back at Up There, on the other hand...now that is something I am interested in reading about.
As far as the rest of it, I feel like there are too many plot holes for me to really get on board with the story.

The Real Housewives of Atlanta's Apollo Nida was sentenced to eight years in prison Tuesday, People confirms.
Though Nida originally faced up to 30 years in prison for mail, wire and bank fraud, a Georgia judge granted leniency, lessening his sentence for cooperating with a federal investigation.
"On behalf of my client Apollo, right now he feels remorse. He thought the judge was fair, and accepts his sentence, although he was hoping it would be less," Nida's lawyer Thomas D. Bever tells People exclusively.
"Apollo is elated that this proceeding is past him and is no longer handing over his head.

A digital artist-in-residence has been given a free hand to create the ambience for London's new supercasino
A non-gambler might imagine the casino to be a dingy, smoke-filled basement where booze is trafficked and the sun never shines. That's how it was. But it might be time to revise your preconception as London's biggest and newest casino has the gambling joint of old graduated to a centre of entertainment, and this one has turned to art to make its atmosphere new and unique.
The Hippodrome Casino has commissioned the country's first digital artist-in-residence, whose task is to capture "the spirit" of the Hippodrome. It seems an anomalous combination – gambling and aesthetics – but it's in the ethos of a new kind of supercasino this place is introducing.

The "CSI" finale could prove perilous for a member of the team -- someone is forced to go undercover to get close to a serial killer in the May 15 season closer (10 p.m. Et on CBS).
The episode, titled "Skin in the Game," should be momentous for a number of reasons -- not only does it introduce Annabella Sciorra as Captain Brass' (Paul Guilfoyle) much-discussed ex-wife, Nancy, but it also sees genre favorite James Callis guest star, along with Ozzy Osbourne, Tony Iommi, Thomas D. Clufetos Jr., and Geezer Burler who appear as themselves.
The Huffington Post has an exclusive preview of "Skin in the Game," and in the video above, Brass and his ex-wife discuss their missing daughter, hinting at the painful past between them.

A former mayor of South Portland, Maine, is among some 100 men accused of paying a Zumba instructor for sex in the vacation town of Kennebunk, according to a client list released by police on Tuesday. James A. Soule, a former council member from a prominent Portland family who last served as mayor (a largely ceremonial post) in 2008, was named on Kennebunk Zumba instructor Alexis Wright's list, reports the Portland Press Herald. Police say Wright ran a sex-for-pay operation out of the dance studio. Among the other alleged clients, say reports, are an attorney, a forester and a real estate appraiser.

LONDON -- British director Nigel Cole has taken the helm of a feature adaptation based on classic children's character Eloise, the first project planned from the new-look HandMade Films stable, the company said Monday.
Cole will direct "Eloise in Paris" from a Janet Brownell and Erin Joslyn script adapted from the children's book of the same name, written by Kay Thompson and illustrated by Hilary Knight.
The live-action film is scheduled to shoot this year on location in Paris, New York and London for release in spring 2008. HandMade Films International, a new division responsible for the global sales, distribution and marketing of new HandMade productions, will handle worldwide sales.
The film will be produced by Patrick Meehan and Thomas D. Adelman, whose credits include two previous "Eloise" telefilms for the Wonderful World of Disney series.
HandMade, the newly invigorated, long-dormant production label founded by late ex-Beatle George Harrison in the 1970s, acquired film, television, music and merchandising rights to all "Eloise"-titled properties in 2002.
