The Syfy series Warehouse 13 likes to play with death, so much so that cheating death has become a central theme of the show. But in a surprise twist before the long hiatus, Warehouse 13 changed the rules and finally delivered a death that was not reversible. Killing off fan-favorite Leena (Genelle Williams), fans were as devastated as the characters left standing on the show. In addition, discovering that Artie was responsible for her was even more shocking. Artie was the one man who we could never conceive of doing such a thing and the result was haunting. In a recent press conference call, executive producer Jack Kenny and stars Eddie McClintock and Joanne Kelly talked about the ripple-effects of Leena’s death, how she came to draw the short-stick, as well as previewing all the fun guest-stars upcoming over the next 10 episodes of Season 4.5.

As part of the recent Syfy Digital Press Tour in Toronto, SciFi Mafia went on a tour of the gorgeous steampunk-y set of their flagship show Warehouse 13 and attended a Q&A panel with the cast, showrunner, and Mark Stern, President, Syfy Original Content. It was a blast.
We started out with the tour, conducted by showrunner Jack Kenny and production designer Franco de Cotiis, who gave us a quick view of a new hot set (currently ready for shooting) for an upcoming episode:
Then it was on to the sets for Leena’s Bed and Breakfast, and for the warehouse itself. All exteriors for Leena’s are actually interiors, to control lighting and weather. The hallway in Leena’s is used for the exterior of Pete’s and Mika’s rooms, and whatever other hallways may be needed.

In July, Sci Fi Channel, which by then will be called by its new moniker, Syfy, debuts a new series, Warehouse 13. Starring Joanne Kelly (Vanished, Jeremiah), Eddie McClintock (Bones, Desperate Housewives), and Saul Rubinek (Frasier, Leverage), the paranormal themed show is set in South Dakota, where the U.S. government maintains a warehouse that houses “strange artifacts, mysterious relics, fantastical objects and supernatural souvenirs”.
Kelly and McClintock are two Secret Service agents who, after saving the life of a president, are transferred to the South Dakota facility, where they meet the caretaker, Artie Nielsen, played by Rubinek.
McClintock’s Pete Lattimer sees the assignment as a reward, but Kelly’s Myka Bering can’t help but feel like she’s being punished. Regardless, their new responsibility is to chase down new objects that belong in the warehouse.
