25 years ago The Sci-Fi channel (SyFy these days) brought onto the airwaves a series unlike any ever seen before. Farscape took the idea of weird and ran with it in a universe filled with the bizarre, the beautiful, and both at the same time.
Created by Rockne S. O’Bannon, the man behind Alien Nation, Farscape introduced viewers to creatures and aliens of all different shapes and sizes. Some of them were people and others were beyond anything we could imagine. And we all saw it and experienced it alongside lost astronaut and scientist John Crichton, played by Ben Browder. Crichton was the only Actual human around and was the perfect stand in for the rest of us.
The series would be brought to life by the Jim Henson Creature Shop under the eye of Brian Henson (who we interviewed yesterday). The shop would create and design various aliens that were both puppet and person…...

I don’t recall ever hearing an Australian accent on the U.S.S. Enterprise, which you would expect if crew members are hailing from all over planet Earth. So that’s a nice touch. And of course that Aussie crew member here is played by Farscape’s Gigi Edgley, for that extra geek kick.
Catch up with Episodes 1 and 2, Episode 3, Episode 4, and Episode 5.

Last summer at San Diego Comic Con, we got to sit on the bridge of the Enterprise and learn a little bit about the concept for the Hollywood Science Fiction Museum. Just in the beginning stages, it sounded pretty cool, but when we caught up with the Huston Huddleston the museum’s founder at WonderCon to talk about the progress we were blown away.
Set to open later this year at an existing Los Angeles museum, the Hollywood Sci-Fi Museum has plans to open its own location eventually. This location will feature a space ship restaurant, as well as a museum that will house a hall of cars, a hall of space ships, a hall of robots, and a ginormous store where you can buy everything from Harry Potter wands to Sonic Screwdrivers. It will also have sections for all the movies and shows in the genre. And there will...

Once again Louie dared visit a topic that TV has otherwise avoided by acknowledging that men use sex toys. Jokes about women’s vibrators have become commonplace, but a similar joke about men is acknowledging a truth that’s mostly ignored. It was a brilliant bit for the season opener, with the kind of brutal honesty that makes Louie one of TV’s best comedies.
Damon Wayans Jr. will be a series regular on the fourth season of New Girl. Now that that’s been taken care of, when can we get some kind of Happy Endings reunion?
A month ahead of the debut of its second season, Netflix has ordered a third season of Orange is the New Black.
Kristian Nairn talked with Vulture and said what had to be said about Hodor‘s potential as king, “I don’t think Hodor could be any worse than Joffrey.

This has been a terrific season of Face Off so far, with a lot of amazing hits and very few misses. I was afraid that last season’s Veterans vs Rookies would be hard to match, but Season 6 has taken over without missing a beat. Tonight’s spotlight challenge looks particularly cool:

Along with an ever-shrinking cavalcade of stars (only six remain!), the episode featured both an individual dance (in a style not previously performed), a “trio dance” and what may be the cherry atop the most shocking string of unexpected eliminations in the show’s history.

And the next UK series to get remade for U.S. viewers is… Bad Education. ABC is adapting the Britcom bringing star Jack Whitehall along as the unconventional teacher who battles with school administrators focused on test scores. Unfortunately, I hear it will be revamped into a wacky sitcom about the school’s hockey team with a Friends alum playing the coach.
It’s one of TV’s most-watched programs and Downton Abbey has been renewed for a fifth season. PBS will air the season, probably after fans have had to work to avoid spoilers for months.
Oh dear. Someone is hoping to make a reality show about furries. If this goes well, I’ will be very surprised.
The failure of Ender’s Game in movie theatres makes it unlikely that Orson Scott Card‘s other novels will make it to be big screen. However, Lionsgate says it is still considering a TV spin-off.

This trailer for Scifi channel's Quantum Apocalypse actually premiered a while back but we neglected to post it for some reason. Then I read a funny story about how the film got its name and I thought I'd finally post it.
Basically what happened was our pal Foywonder over at Dread Central was poking fun at writer Leigh Scott who was having trouble getting his story for a film called "Judgement Day" approved. He mentioned that it was probably because the film didn't comply with what must be a Scifi rule that all original films have colons in their titles. He joked that he should have called it "Judgment Day: Quantum Apocalypse" and Scifi would have loved it. Leigh liked the tag so much he presented it. They loved it. Quantum Apocalypse was born.
Synopsis:

Following a successful mini-series, USA Network assumed that viewers would want to watch a weekly version of The Starter Wife. After 10 episodes, it seems the numbers weren't big enough and the TV show's been cancelled.
The Starter Wife mini-series stars Debra Messing as Molly Kagan, a Hollywood wife/mother who has it all. Her life is turned upside down when her studio exec husband, Kenny (Peter Jacobson, later David Alan Basche), dumps her for a young starlet. Within hours, Molly's social circle discards her and all that she knows is in turmoil. She slowly rebuilds her life and, by the time the TV show begins, Molly's on her way to thriving. Castmembers include Judy Davis, Chris Diamantopoulos, Joe Mantegna, Stephen Moyer, Anika Noni Rose, Novella Nelson, Aden Young, Bethany Whitmore, Miranda Otto, Trilby Glover, Hailee Denham, Gigi Edgley, Hart Bochner, Danielle Nicolet, Reggie Austin, James Black, Brielle Barbusca, and Daniel Gerroll.

Got an email the other day from filmmaker Leigh Scott regarding several upcoming productions from Bullet Films, a subdivision of Blackthorne Industries, the production company he and other ex-Asylum employees formed after escaping The Asylum late last year. The title that immediately popped out to me was Wolvesbayne, a sort of werewolf Hellboy that has just begun filming.
Described as a superhero-type origin film set in a horror film universe, Jeremy London ("Party of Five", Basilisk: The Serpent King) stars as the heroic werewolf who will have to save the world from a Nazi vampire cult leader played by a sword-wielding Marc Dacascos (Brotherhood of the Wolf, Drive) and his vampish cohort, Yancy Butler ("Witchblade", Hard Target). Rounding out the cast are Christy Carlson Romano (the voice of TV's "Kim Possible") as - I'm assuming - the hero's love interest and underrated former Asylum movie regular Rhett Giles as the one and only Van Helsing.
