- Emperor Khai Dinh was born on October 8, 1885 in Hue, Vietnam. He died on November 6, 1925 in Hue, Vietnam.
- Enthroned as the nominal ruler of Annam in 1916 as his father, Emperor Dong Khanh, had been regarded as the most permissive of colonial rule (the French government having exiled his two predecessors for their opposition). Ho Chí Minh wrote a play mocking Khai Dinh as a puppet of the French. He ruled until 1925.
