Exclusive: CeeLo Green, the musician behind hits including Crazy, has teamed up with Lauren Grace Media to develop two television projects.
Green, who is also behind hit single F*ck You, is working with the Race in America producer on a documentary series about his life as well as a scripted drama series inspired by the story of Atlanta-based rap group Goodie Mob and its rise in the southern rap scene.
Green began his career as a member of Goodie Mob, which was part of the Dungeon Family collective, home also to Outkast. He left the band in 1999 to work on his own records, before teaming up with Danger Mouse to form Gnarls Barkley, which led to Crazy.
He was a judge and a coach on The Voice between 2011 and 2014 and also had his own series CeeLo Green’s The Good Life on TBS.

Exclusive: The personal story of multi-hyphenate Mario Van Peebles will come to TV. The actor, writer and director, known for New Jack City and Heartbreak Ridge, has teamed with Dorothy Toran and Leslie D. Farrell’s Lauren Grace Media to develop a docuseries about Van Peebles and his family.
The series will focus on the close relationship the Superstition, All My Children and Rude Awakening actor shares with his four adult children: Maya, Mandela, Makaylo and Morgana.
Mario Van Peebles’ acting credits include Ali, Bloodline and Baadasssss!. His directing credits include episodes of Empire, Superstition and 21 Jump Street. He has both directed and acted in Salt-n-Pepa, Panther, Red Sky and more. He will produce the Broadway revival of his father Melvin Van Peebles’ 1971 musical Ain’t Supposed to Die a Natural Death. He will also direct and star in the upcoming Outlaw Posse.

Exclusive: Elisabeth Röhm and Malik Yoba have teamed with veteran reality TV executives Dorothy Toran (The Real Housewives of New Jersey) and Leslie D. Farrell’s Lauren Grace Media on a true-crime docuseries.
Created by Röhm and Yoba, the project, which is in development, explores how racial and socioeconomic disparities influence criminal investigations and how justice is served. Specific cases are not being revealed.
“We are so thrilled to partner with Elisabeth and Malik to help shine a light on matters of racial inequity,” Toran said. “They both have such an incredible commitment and passion for having the difficult conversations required to help combat the inequalities so many disadvantaged communities face.”

As the pivotal 2020 presidential election draws nearer, Bravo has set a new virtual conversation to encourage Black Americans to vote, Variety has learned exclusively.
The 90-minute special is entitled “Race in America: Our Vote Counts” will air Sunday, Nov. 1 at 10 p.m. on Bravo, and be simulcast on E!
