Sonny Felman
- Actor
Sonny Faiz was born in Croydon, South East London, UK in 1970. Sonny was a
regular play actor at West Thornton and Lanfranc High Schools from a young age.
An avid reader, talented cartoonist and comedian and guitarist from aged 5.
He became a broadcaster/radio announcer aged 14. He almost joined South-East Sound
Pirate radio but at this point they were raided in 1985. It was an end of an era for Pirate Radio.
He migrated to to Australia in the late 80's, he joined Sydney Rock group with another Londoner member,
The band, "Sipstrassi" in 1992 which disbanded after a short period following rare gigs in Sydney. A
At the same time he had a brief eight month gig at 2VTR Sydney Radio.
He managed a David Bowie cover band "The Spiders" in 1995.
During the course of 1995 and 1996 Sonny performed in theatre, and toured the comedy circuit in Sydney as an amateur Comedian. He performed with many well known comedians from this time in Sydney. He performed mainly his own sketches with his typical humor and then became part of a successful regular comedy team. The constant touring took its toll as the gigs were not regular and as it was unpaid this too was short lived.
Following this he performed as an extra in two US movies made on location in Sydney, Lilian's Story "Ruth Cracknell" and Race The Sun "Jim Belushi" and "Halle Berry" At this point too he wished his breaking through would be the right time to film and tv by meeting with directors such as Douglas Adams of "The Hitch-Hikers Guide To The Galaxy" fame. "When I told him I was from Croydon, That was the end of it!" London Weekend Televisions' The Professionals said it all. "I should have made it to Television at least at the same time Collins should have been a Bond". He was considered professional at work. Other extra work on Sydney television included Pizza on SBS TV Australia and Channels Sevens popular Home and Away series and Funniest Home Videos.
His most popular role and as one main character was as Ian in the film 6000 Miles from Hollywood. Hoping along with director Billy the film would make great impact overseas.
He was a fan of "Carry On" team, Classic English comedians and UK DJs Kenny Everett and Tommy Vance.
Sonny had been working on a new project for 2013. It was to be a new pilot for production, a new reality show with real live events including psychic connections and sightings. With Sydney's Channels Nines interest and on speaking with various directors and Psychics this too became unfinished project even though the ratings would have been the most outstanding for free to air TV. "At one stage in filming, It got to a point where it were something in the moment and very real" So real in fact, It was this that Sonny stopped for this very reason too and filming stopped immediately. He even filmed his daughter dancing which included anomalies in the background. "I knew I had psychic abilities from a young age because my auntie who passed away traveled with me to be with me, to see how I grew up, Because she craved for a child. She passed away to Cancer. In a way I belonged to her too as she helped me along the way".
This project was abandoned due to his personal circumstances.
He lives in Sydney, Australia.
