Welcome to this week’s review of Nxt Roadblock 2024, right here on Nerdly. Let’s get straight into it and see what went down in this episode…
Match #1: Asylum Match – Dijak def. Joe Gacy The following is courtesy of wwe.com:
Dijak vanquished Joe Gacy in a brutal Asylum Match, but the deranged Gacy still managed to send shivers down the Nxt Universe’s spine even in defeat. With weapons all around the ring, the two rivals massacred each other inside the ring with the likes of steel chairs, fire extinguishers, tool boxes, and so much more. After tossing Gacy off of the top rope onto a trash can, Dijak scaled the cage and hit a gravity defying moonsault from atop the structure, but not even that was enough to win the match. Dijak managed to lock Gacy into a straitjacket and duct taped his eyes shut before hitting...

Although it has yet to be officially announced, Jack Swagger will likely be going up against Alberto Del Rio for the United States Championship at next Sunday at WWE’s TLC pay-per-view. The feud has failed to excite fans in recent weeks, mainly because the it’s been done before and Swagger hasn’t been relevant in years.
Swagger is far from a rookie on the rise; in fact, he’s been with WWE for over nine years, having started out as a top prospect with a ton of potential, and impressing officials in developmental before punching his ticket to the main roster. He had a strong start on the now-defunct Ecw brand, but it was all downhill for the All-American American from there.
From forgettable title runs to missed managerial opportunities, the powers that be have mishandled Swagger on multiple occasions over the course of his career.

Here is one to add to the “never would have expected that” list. WWE’s Hornswoggle, best known as the miniature leprechaun who taunts various wrestling personalities, has been suspended by the company due to his first violation of the WWE wellness policy.
WWE issued the following release on WWE.com.
“In accordance with its Talent Wellness Program, WWE has suspended Dylan Postl (Hornswoggle) for 30 days, effective immediately, for his first violation of the company’s policy.”
There has yet to be any word on the nature of Hornswoggle’s violation, whether it is due to recreational drug use, performance enhancing drugs or supplements, or something else.
The 29 year old Hornswoggle has been part of WWE now for close to a decade, originally entering the company in 2006 as “Little Bastard,” a leprechaun partner to Fit Finlay. He later went on to become WWE Cruiserweight Champion in 2007 by defeating...

What has been billed as the final batch of Superstars for WWE 2K16 has been confirmed this afternoon.
Here are the names in full: Bray Wyatt, Mikey Whipwreck, The New Day (Kofi Kingston, Xavier Woods & Big E), Enzo Amore & Colin Cassady, Stunning Steve Austin, Superstar Steve Austin, Rusev, American Bad Ass Undertaker, Baron Corbin, Brian Pillman, Jey Uso, Jimmy Uso, Konnor, Viktor, Mark Henry, Ministry Undertaker, Ricky Steamboat, Savio Vega, Stephanie McMahon-Helmsley, Sting ’99, Sting Blonde and finally the two Terminator renders.
The new names show how in-depth the Stone Cold mode will be. It looks like we’re going to be travelling right through his days as a Hollywood Blonde with Brian Pillman and that feud with Ricky Steamboat, stopping off for a cup of coffee in Ecw to feud with Mikey Whipwreck (and maybe Sandman?), and then going through his main run in WWE, including the 2001 Royal Rumble.

When it comes to WWE stars and their relations, you can split any single wrestler up into three distinct categories. First, there are those who are very publicly related; think The Hardy Boyz, or even Chavo and Eddie Guerrero, for example. We all know they’re linked by blood, and the WWE won’t let us forget it either.
The next category is a rather comedic one; wrestlers who the WWE try to make us believe are related, but we all know they aren’t. For instance, who really thought that Hornswoggle was indeed Vince McMahon’s secret son? For reference, Hornswoggle isn’t related to Fit Finlay, either. Another prime example is of course Kane and The Undertaker – sorry to disappoint younger (or more gullible) readers, but they aren’t brothers.
And then there are those bloodline relations that WWE fans simply don’t know about. It...

Hosted by The Miz, the compilation features every Money in the Bank Ladder Match in history. The match debuted at WrestleMania 21 in 2005, quickly becoming a WrestleMania tradition and in 2010 proved so popular that it was given its own annual PPV event. Several top Superstars have been Money in the Bank winners including John Cena, Kane, Edge, Cm Punk (twice!), Rob Van Dam and many more. 11 of the first 12 winners have used the match as a springboard to winning a championship, and several times the match has helped a Superstar who has never win a World Championship break through to claim their first. Much like the Royal Rumble Match, the Money in the Bank match represents a golden opportunity for a Superstar to achieve immortality, and its entire lineage is presented here.
It is nice to see this match receive its own box-set release. The “Money in the Bank” concept...

It all used to be so simple. What worked for the territories would work for the WWF: crown your biggest draw the champ and feed him a succession of supporting players from further down the card. Don’t worry if the challenger isn’t particularly over; the rub from the champ will make him look like a star for the couple of months he spends above his regular place further down the card. It’s a model that made Hulk Hogan the biggest thing the sport had ever seen. But that was back in the day of television squash matches and only a handful of Pay-Per-Views a year.
Come the turn of the millennium, an increased production schedule necessitated the building of an extension on the VIP lounge, and it became standard practice to maintain a top-tier line-up of multiple workers, all potential custodians of the big gold belt. The Rock,...

If you are a casual fan of professional wrestling or a devoted “smart mark”, you have no doubt been exposed to one of the high quality documentary films about the lives and labors of the in-ring performers. But how does The Rise and Fall of Ecw compare to Wrestling Road Diaries? Or The British Wrestler to Hitman Hart: Wrestling With Shadows? This list will take a look at some of the best and brightest wrestling movies out there. Will you find your favorite?
Note: This list contains documentaries produced by – and with the cooperation of – World Wrestling Entertainment. While I understand these films make some questionable claims about their subject matter, I believe their relative strengths justify their inclusion.
15. The Fit Finlays (2010)
BBC’s The Fit Finlays examines the family life of Dave “Fit” Finlay Jr., then WWE wrestler and now a backstage official. Finlay is most famous for his work in American promotions,...

Winning the Money in the Bank briefcase is almost as prestigious as wearing one of the many title belts in WWE at the moment. It is almost a sure thing that the winner will become World Champion at some point and it has done wonders for the careers of many top stars. But what about the others? Has the title Mr Money in the Bank always brought good luck and fortune?
WhatCulture! examines the history of the event and what happened to the winners.
2005, Wrestlemania 21 – Chris Jericho Vs Christian Vs Chris Benoit Vs Edge Vs Shelton Benjamin Vs Kane
The first ever Money in the Bank was held at Wrestlemania 21 and featured many of the WWE’s most exciting talents at the time. The eventual winner was Edge who cashed in the briefcase at the January 2006 News Year’s Revolution PPV. We don’t need to remind you...

Sheamus continues to shine as a worker, Tyson Kidd and Antonio Cesaro steal the show on Superstars and Kane is still able to wrestle after receiving twenty six chair shots prior to a match-up. Here is a look at the best and some of the worse stuff from the past week in the WWE.
Wrestler of the week: Sheamus
The Irishman coming to the aid of John Cena at the start of Raw brought some much needed energy to a dire segment involving John Laurinaitis, Eve and the Big Show and helped to wash away the taste of yet another horrendous verbal performance from Cena. Later in the night, when partnering with the poster boy, the world heavyweight champion had some great powerhouse exchanges with Tensai, some brilliantly heroic brawling on the outside with the lumberjacks and solid back and forths with both Ziggler and Swagger who he also had...

We are less than a month away from WrestleMania 28, and as always there is huge hype surrounding the top few matches on the card. But spare a thought for the match that takes place first on the card, whose job is to get the show off to a good start and psyche up the crowd.
What follows is a collection of the best of those opening matches, and what’s interesting is how many participants went on from opening the show, to main eventing it a few years later.
10. WrestleMania 15
Hardcore Title Match: Billy Gunn vs. Al Snow vs. Hardcore Holly
This match marked the first time that the Hardcore Title was defended at a Wrestlemania event. Prior to this match, Gunn was part of the Intercontinental Title programme, while his partner Road Dogg was the one known for Hardcore. For some reason, they switched divisions and Gunn defended here.
