From the 5:2 diet to Tiger Mothers and the furore over skivers-and-strivers, discipline has become the guiding principle that informs our lives. But is it a step too far when having Ocd and increased workloads become a badge of honour?
We have reached the end game of have-it-all culture. Because I'm Worth It has had its day, and discipline is the new decadence. The Nike Fuel Band, which tracks your calorie expenditure and praises you for an active lifestyle, has more smug-factor than a Rolex right now. The dominant meme of annoying Facebook behaviour has segued from the posting of party photos to "inspirational" quotes (American men – Henry Ford, Albert Einstein, Ralph Waldo Emerson – are especially hot right now). Meanwhile, the narrative of reality TV has changed: bad behaviour in the hot tub, à la early Big Brother, has been replaced, from The Voice to The Apprentice, by Saturday-night preaching...

"Great LezBritian" is a fortnightly stroll through the very best of British lesbo-centric entertainment and culture. Plus there will be some jolly good interviews with the top ladies who are waving the flag for gay UK.
Last years final airing of Big Brother UK might have been won by Queen Josie, but in truth it was lesbian contestant Shabby Katchadourian (25) who initially grabbed all of the headlines with her love confession to Caoimhe, frustrating hissy fits and endearing charm. Chances are, this is how the series would have continued if Shabby hadnt thrown one final mother of a tantrum and hot-stepped it out of the diary room door just a few weeks in.

Ex-housemates including Sunshine Martin, 24, Shabby Katchadourian, 24, Ben Duncan, 30 and Nathan Dunn, 25 could all go back into the house this week as part of a new twist, which will see current housemates make the final decision on whether they will be allowed to re-enter. Each of the nine contestants will be called to the diary room, where they will be offered a selection of ''treats'' by Big Brother. While one of the choices will include one of their former housemates, the other option will see them shunned. An insider ..

For talking about the outside world Sam Pepper has been punished. On Friday, Sam hinted to fellow housemates, John James and Josie, who was popular on the outside.
Last night, Sam was called to the Diary Room where he had to glue peppercorns on to a board saying:
“I Sam Pepper Will Not Talk About The Outside World Ever Again….. Honestly I Wont”
Sam was not allowed to leave the Diary Room until he had covered all the letters with peppercorns.
During this, Big Brother played him some music and read him interesting facts about peppers and peppercorns.

Yesterday, Big Brother gave Sam a secret task in which he had to wear four ridiculous outfits, including a tutu and top hat. Sam had to convince the other housemates that these were his normal clothes.
If he passed he’d get his regular clothes back, if he failed he’d be stuck with the ridiculous outfits.
Sam failed to convince his housemates that they were his own clothes and so will be stuck with the ridiculous clothing until further notice.

X Factor bosses are said to be on the lookout for a different sort of act this year.
No more cheesy brother and sister duos, no more annoying and untalented twins, in 2010 the X Factor is striving for credibility.
Possibly because of how 2009 winner, meek and mild Joe McElderry, was beat in the battle for Christmas number one by Rage Against The Machine, Simon Cowell is hoping he can find the new Jls instead of the next Leon Jackson this year!
A source told The Sun:
“There was a time when people wanted to see someone who has had a difficult life get a No1 Christmas hit.
“But that climate has completely changed. People want an artist that is going to keep producing.”
The insider added: “It’s the seventh year and it needed to change.

This afternoon Caoimhe Guilfoyle decided to leave the Big Brother house. After spending 42 days with her fellow housemates, she decided enough was enough and exited at 13.00pm.
She left through the diary room after saying goodbye to everyone in the house as they applauded her before she made her exit.
Last night Caoimhe asked Big Brother to leave saying she wanted to get back to her boyfriend and family, and that she was finding life tough in the house. She has told her fellow housemates she values the relationship with her boyfriend more than continuing her Big Brother experience.
Caoimhe will be remembered for her quiff, her fashion, her relationship with former housemate Shabby and her role in the John James and Josie saga. And for flashing the housemates last Friday night.
Within minutes of her departure a distraught John James was seen shedding tears for his friend in the nest.

Due to her continuous flouting of Bb rules, Caoimhe has been banned from nominating this week.
Caoimhe was called to the Diary Room to be told the news.
Bb repeated back to her a conversation that she’d had over nominations, during which she said, ‘Put me up tomorrow. Put me up, I’m cool with that… I wanna be up. I’m happy, happy to go.’
I wonder how that’s going to affect this week’s nominations?

Yesterday, Caoimhe told Corin and Keeley that she’s annoyed with Josie over the whole John James debacle.
It seems that Caoimhe’s angry that Josie’s letting her feelings for John get in the way of their friendship.
She said, “It’s ridiculous. It’s a bit pathetic to be honest, to let a boy get in the way of a girlfriend.”
When Keeley then asked if Caoimhe had told Josie that she doesn’t fancy John, Caoimhe replied, “Of course, but she said she’s avoiding me, she can’t look at me.”
Caoimhe added that she doesn’t “feel comfortable” with either John James or Josie now, and that she’s going to avoid being around them.
Oh dear…

In the last few days, Josie had become increasingly jealous about Caoimhe and John James’s friendship.
She’s gone from being angry with Caoimhe to aplogising, then telling John earlier that she didn’t like who she was becoming in the house.
So this afternoon, Josie and Caoimhe talked over their issues outside, with Josie telling her friend that she’s sorry for being jealous of her and for snapping at her…
However, Caoimhe got upset about the situation and, as she’s been talking about walking again, when she went to the Diary Room, some housemates speculated that she was about to leave.
We’ll keep you posted on developments.

Yesterday, during a conversation with John James in the nest, Josie complained about Caoimhe, saying that she was “negative”.
And as the conversation went on, it became clear that Josie was angry with Caoimhe for flirting with John James earlier in the day.
However, later, speaking to John outside, Josie said that she was “embarrassed” about the things she’d said and angry with herself for “becoming someone I’m not” and “acting like a jealous cow.”
John tried to reassure her that she’s done nothing wrong, but our Josie was in a downbeat mood.
Will she feel happier today I wonder?

While all the housemates were letting their big roast lamb dinner settle, Caoimhe was in the mood for mischief…
She suggested to John James and Dave that they should stage a “break out” tonight.
She added that it would be great if they got into the camera runs to have a look “behind the scenes”.
However, nobody else seemed overly bothered about the plan and it was met with full bellied groans.
So will she do it all by herself? We’ll keep you posted!

During the bust up yesterday over the shopping list, things between Josie and Caoimhe got heated, and ended with Josie labeling the Irish housemate as “a self centred cow.”
It began when Josie was overseeing the compilation of the shopping list, and Caoimhe became increasingly annoyed at the lack of cigs and booze on the list.
Caoimhe’s first rant was about how little tobacco had been ordered. She said, “Excuse me? We have an addiction!”
Corin then tried to tell Caoimhe that any tobacco was better than none, but Caoimhe wasn’t about to be placated…
She said, “Do you know what? We have a once in a lifetime opportunity and we’re spending it on carrots and potatoes?
“What about alcohol?”
She then stomped off, muttering, “Carrots and onions and garlic for f***s sake.
“Great work guys, I just wanted to say.”

Big Brother housemate John James Parton has admitted that he regrets not making more time for Shabby Katchadourian whilst she was in the house.
Shabby walked off the show last week after being overwhelmed by her feelings for Caoimhe and a fight with Ife. In a chat with Ben, Mario and Andrew today, Australian hunk John James admitted that he felt a divide in the house isolated many of the group in the early weeks and admitted that he wishes he had gotten to know the 24 year old squatter better.
“Shabby I regret not being friends with her near the beginning,” John James said. “They used to be the bathroom clan. Like Ben said, there was times I didn’t want to go in there ‘cos I felt I was stepping on someone’s toes.”
Ben added:
“There were huge divides before. Materially there was deeper division. It lasted for about three weeks.

As soon as Caoimhe heard that she’ll be taking part in today’s Save and Replace task, she told the other housemates that she’ll use the task to try to save her friends from being up for eviction.
She said that if Corin wins the task, she’ll probably put John James up for eviction, and if Ife wins, she’ll most likely put Ben in her place.
Ben and John agreed that these were likely outcomes, and as Dave asked Caoimhe to nominate him if she wins, as he’s “ready to go”, it would seem that it’s a done deal… if she wins.
But will she?

Big Brother housemates and one time pals Caoimhe Guilfoyle and Ife Kuku spent much of last night back stabbing each other.
Caoimhe bitched to John James Parton and Josie Gibson in the nest, saying that she couldn’t stand her immaturity and gloomy disposition.
“Ben can’t stand her either. He thinks she’s a moany person with nothing to say,” Caoimhe told them. “She doesn’t sense when someone doesn’t want to talk.”
Josie replied: “I like her, I just have to switch off though.”
“I just feel like saying ‘grow the fuck up’ and stop being such a moany little bitch,” Caoimhe added.
During the conversation, Ife was chatting with Mario Mugan in the kitchen and when asked who she would swap to get Nathan Dunn back in the house she said:
“Caoimhe obviously.” She added that she just couldn’t understand the Irish girl.

Big Brother duo John James Parton and Josie Gibson shared a bit of a moment in the house yesterday.
Things have been heating up between the pair for weeks and after leaving the house, Shabby Katchadourian admitted that there is definitely a romance brewing there.
While 25 year old farm girl Josie was dressed as a robot as part of a task yesterday, John James swooped in for a near kiss as they flirted outrageously. Jos later admitted that she is terrified by the idea that John James may be evicted tomorrow. On hearing that the Australian hunk would face the public vote, Josie whispered to the cameras:
“Please don’t take my John James away from me”.
Thankfully Nathan Dunn is the bookies favourite to leave, so Josie may just have her wish granted!

Things have kicked off in the Big Brother house and it seems that all the eviction pressure is getting to Nathan Dunn.
The 25 year old trainee joiner was debating about religion and politics with Ben Duncan when he exploded and called the 30 year old the ‘most selfish man’ he has ever met!
After a discussion on foreign policy and other political matters Nathan told Ben:
“You are the most selfish man I have ever met in my whole entire life”.
He went on to mention the fact that Ben refused to take part in a team task earlier this week, that he let Dave take his place in a punishment task last week and the fact that he does next to no housework.
In a separate conversation, Caoimhe and Dave sparked off one another, as the Irish girl took exception to the Christian minister talking about God during a discussion on politics.

In the last 24 hours, it seems that Caoimhe has been determined to let rip at and about the other housemates.
According to the Daily Star, over the last day or so, Caoimhe has “verbally attacked” Nathan, bitched about Corin, and told other housemates to be wary of Ife because “she’s a snake.”
And she apparently went on to say that she believes she is the only “real” person in the house now that Shabby’s gone.
During her rant about Nathan, Caoimhe said, “All he thinks and talks about is sex. He’s vulgar about women and that disgusts me…
“When he’s in a bad mood everyone is in a bad mood, you’re expected to feel his bad mood.
“When he’s in a good mood, everyone has to be in a good mood. ‘Come on kids,’ he says. F*** off!
“I can’t stand him, he’s a bully.

During a press conference regarding her walking out of the Bb house, Shabby declared herself to be a “massive embarrassment” over the way she declared her feelings to fellow housemate, Caoimhe.
She told the assembled press, “I’m p***ed off at myself. I’m a massive embarrassment to myself, to be honest with you.
I’m not so cool, I’m a lovestruck fool. But it was how it was, and it is how it is, and I had to go with my feelings.”
And responding to questions about how it had made her feel to hear Caoimhe had said Shabby’s attentions made her “uncomfortable”, Shabby said, “I was shocked about that…
“That’s not who I think she is really. I don’t know what she thinks to be honest.”

According to today’s Daily Star, Shabby – who of course left the house two days ago – reckons that Big Brother “begged” her not to walk.
Shabby told the paper, “They tried their best to make me stay and even asked me to describe my dream woman.
“I couldn’t stay though. But if they send loads of fit women in now, then I am going to kick off.”
Shabby also labeled herself a “lovesick fool” for falling for fellow housemate, Caoimhe.
She said, “I have fallen in love with her, I’m a love-struck fool.”

There’s another big row simmering in the Big Brother house, and this time, it’s between Ife and Caoimhe.
It began when Ife went to the Diary Room to discuss Caoimhe and Shabby’s friendship. She expressed her opinion that Caoimhe had “led Shabby on”, and she later told Caoimhe what she’d said.
While the pair were in the bathroom, Ife told Caoimhe that she felt she’s “taken her cake and eaten it” with regard to Shabby’s admission that she was attracted to her.
Caoimhe reacted angrily to Ife’s admission, denying that she’d used Shabby in any way, and adding that Ife’s comments could jeopardise her relationship with boyfriend Dave…
Later, while talking it over with John James and Josie, Caoimhe said that as a result of what Ife had said, she now wanted to stay in the house as she was scared...

On tonight’s Channel 4 show:
10.30am.
Ife is in the diary room. Ife talks about the argument she had with Shabby and Caoimhe the night before. She says “I never want to feel that way again in my life” and that when she stuck up for herself she didn’t know she had it in her. Ife says she would like to move on from the argument; she could see Shabby was remorseful straight away but Caoimhe wasn’t. She says “I’m in a different place with Caoimhe. I’ll be honest.. I dislike Caoimhe.”
In the bedroom Caoimhe asks Ben if she can speak to him. They go to the closet and Caoimhe tells him she’s planning on leaving the house today. Ben tells Caoimhe that it has “blown over” now and to wait a few days to make her decision as it’s the wrong time to leave now.

Big Brother walkee Shabby has revealed that she’d like the opportunity to go back into the house to “sort Nathan out.”
It seems that she made her comments at a press conference this morning and in response to having watched the live feed overnight.
She told the assembled press, “I watched the live feed last night with my best friend, and I wanted to go back in there and sort some things out…
“Because it looks like it’s kicking off in there. People are turning a bit nasty in there. That was part of the reason I left.”
When asked who she meant, she said, “Who’s genuinely nasty? I think Nathan is genuinely nasty…
“The reason that I think he’s the nastiest of all is that he pretended to be nice.
“I’ve heard you haven’t seen a lot of him, but that’s exactly my point.

Since her best friend in the house – Shabby – left yesterday, Caoimhe has been discussing with various housemates whether she too will leave today.
Yesterday afternoon, as Caoimhe and Ben were discussing Shabby’s departure, Ben asked, “Why do you think Shabby didn’t come and say bye before she left?”
To which Caoimhe replied, “She didn’t want to influence my decision, but I don’t think I can do this without her.”
Ben replied, “You can, it’s whether you want to, and that’s a different question. Give it a couple of days.”
Caoimhe responded, “If I’m up for eviction tomorrow is it wrong for me to just go?”
I personally don’t think Caoimhe’s ever had any intention of leaving…
What do you think?

“George and Emma are joined by now ex-housemate Shabby who left the House only a short time ago!
“She’s here fresh from the Big Brother House, and telling us why she left, how she’s feeling now and the truth behind her and Caoimhe. You don’t want to miss it…
“Myke Hawke is talking us through Ben’s military-style punishment courtesy of the Tree of Temptation. He’s giving us his opinion on Ben’s decision to pass it on to Dave. Does he respect this move? He’s also discussing the housemates’ shopping list and the battles that has created.
“Paul Ross is on the sofa talking about class war, his love for life and… his poetry.

I must say, I’m extremely surprised to hear that Shabby has in fact made good on her threat/promise to walk from the Big Brother house.
News is just in that she has indeed gone! And so far, Caoimhe, who was asleep when Shabby left at 3.08pm, doesn’t know her mate’s gone!
Channel 4 reports, “After lengthy conversations with Big Brother and her fellow housemates, she left via the Diary Room.
Last night both her and Caoimhe asked Big Brother to leave after an argument with Ife and a dispute with other housemates following a party for the five housemates who won the wheelchair basketball task.
It comes after Shabby has requested to leave the house a few times in the past couple of weeks. Shabby faced eviction twice and last week made a pact to leave with Caoimhe should one have been evicted in the public vote.
News is just in that she has indeed gone! And so far, Caoimhe, who was asleep when Shabby left at 3.08pm, doesn’t know her mate’s gone!

Bored Josie Gibson, Shabby Katchadourian and Caoimhe Guilfoyle tried to amuse themselves last night by taking off their bras and flashing their fellow Big Brother housemates.
The trio were locked in the bedroom after losing the wheelchair basketball task and made to watch the rest of the group having a party.
They removed their bras and flashed their pals but Nathan, John James, Mario and co were too busy dancing to notice their antics. Not content with being ignored, Caoimhe and Shabby went on to mock Ife, causing a row which may now see them Related posts:Big Brother 2010: Shabby Katchadourian wants Caoimhe to be evicted!Big Brother 2010: Shabby won’t leave Caoimhe alone!Big Brother 2010: Awwww Shabby loves Caoimhe!Big Brother 2010: Shabby Katchadourian and Caoimhe Guilfoyle to leave show todayHousemates react to the news that Shabby’s goneCopyright © Unreality TV 2009 | Celebrity Big Brother Updates

Big Brother housemate Ife Kuku has visited the diary room and asked to leave the house, after she rowed with Shabby Katchadourian and Caoimhe Guilfoyle.
The trio argued last night after Caoimhe and Shabby poked fun at Ife’s dancing and wig mishap. Soon after Ife visited the diary room and asked if she could go home, however she later changed her mind telling Mario:
“I would have gone but then I realised I had nowhere to go. I wouldn’t go home because I would be much too embarrassed.”
Of her one time friends she added:
“They are so wrapped up in themselves! They’re not my friends, they are the mean girls at school. They have no social awareness.”
Later in the evening, when approached by Caoimhe and Shabby Ife insisted:
“I don’t want to talk to either of you right now,” she told them. “I don...

Big Brother housemates Shabby Katchadourian and Caoimhe Guilfoyle are believed to be leaving the Channel 4 reality TV show today.
The pair, who both faced and survived the public vote last week, visited the Diary Room last night and discussed their decision with Big Brother.
They continued talks throughout the night about leaving the show and today, Shabby told Caoimhe in the Big Brother garden that she was “relieved” that they are being allowed to leave.
She said: “It feels so good they are putting oil on the wheels.”
Shabby added: “I feel so sh*t letting the producers down but we are not characters in a TV show.”
Caoimhe agreed saying:”We are real people.
“It’s the people that are here I can’t deal with.”
It is thought that the pair will leave the house at some point this morning.

Big Brother housemate Shabby Katchadourian has admitted that she would rather see her best pal Caoimhe be evicted tonight, than be forced to go home herself.
The once inseparable pair have been running hot and cold this week, as Shabby grows more frustrated by Caoimhe’s flirting followed by a refusal to take things any further.
In a late night chat with Josie Gibson, the 24 year old squatter revealed:
“I know this is gonna sound really bad but I want Caoimhe to go more than me – because she wants to go, and I only sometimes want to go,” the actress told Josie late last night.
“If [Caoimhe] went and I stayed, I’d wait it out and see how I feel,” she later added.
It seems that Shabs has completely forgotten the pact she made with her Irish friend that if one of them was evicted tonight, the other would walk out in protest.

Big Brother wanted to find out which Housemate when locked in a room with only a tea cosy would put it on their head fastest!
Big Brother called one Housemate to the Diary Room to become the scientist. They had to guess which Housemate they thought would put the tea cosy on their head the fastest.
Shabby came to the Diary Room and selected Sunshine.
Housemates were then called into the Small Task Room one at a time.
If the Housemate hadn’t put the tea cosy on their head after 10 minute, Big Brother let them leave.
The following Housemates didn’t put the tea cosy on their head at all so left after 10 minutes:
Ben
Caoimhe
Corin
Dave
John James
Ife
Mario
Sunshine
The following Housemates put the tea cosy on their heads:
Steve – After 2.59 minutes

Big Brother housemate Shabby Katchadourian has hit out at her best pal Caoimhe Guilfoyle and accused the Irish girl of leading her on.
After the pair enjoyed a playful day in the Bb house, in which Caoimhe groped Shabby’s breast and kissed her neck, she later moaned to the 24 year old film maker that she hoped Big Brother wouldn’t edit the footage and make it look like she was flirting.
Shabby stormed out of the bedroom and unleashed her fury to pals Ife and Corin. She said:
“She doesn’t give a f*ck that this is difficult for me. She doesn’t give a sh*t about my feelings.”
Shabby then considered the fact that Caoimhe might be flirting with her “because it would make good TV.”
Shabby also claimed said that her friends would be “horrified” to see her pursuing another girl so doggedly.

Big Brother housemate Ife Kuku made a surprising revelation during a drinking game in the house tonight.
As the group received some wine to enjoy, Ife suggested that each person revealed one embarrassing fact about themselves before they drank a shot. Shabby loved the idea, adding: “Or an interesting fact… Stuff you’d presume the group as a whole doesn’t know about you yet.”
Josie went first, joking that she lost her virginity when she was just twelve. Steve went next saying:
“I lost mine at 13. And I’m not joking.”
Caoimhe said “I sometimes piss my pants when I’m laughing”, Corin admitted that she was caught shoplifting when she was 15 and Ife revealed that she was born with extra fingers and later had them surgically removed.

Day 21 – On tonight’s show….
9.32am
All the housemates are in the bedroom. This year, unbeknownst to the housemates, Big Brother has installed some tipping beds. The lights in the room turn on and Ben’s bed slowly tips up.
John James tells Ben that he is the only person who wouldn’t laugh as something like that happening to them. The pair of them have an argument about John James insisting on repeating jokes and insults over again. “You’re a lovely person but you’re so stupid”, Ben tells him. He continues that John James always talks rubbish and has a small mind. John James gets angry and tells Ben not to make things personal.
10.30am
Ben and John James are in the bedroom. They are still arguing. “I think you’re life is a joke, but I wouldn’t say that”, John James tells Ben. “I’m...
