- Ruben Gevorkyants was born on November 30, 1945 in Yerevan, Armenian SSR, USSR [now Armenia]. He was a director and writer, known for Kghziner (1987), Requiem (1989) and Autumn of the Magician (2009). He died on June 23, 2017 in Yerevan, Armenia.
- Graduated from the Directing Department of Yeveran Theatre Instutitute
- Has won 18 medals at various international film festivals. Also is a honored worker of art in his native country of Armenia. Also is the author of 18 documentary and fiction films and 3 literary collections
- Is a Professor at Yeveran State University.
- Is the director of the documentary short film studio Hayk/Haik in Armenia, which used to be known as the Yeveran Documentary Studio under Soviet rule. Became the director in 1989. Before that he worked as a director for the studio.
- Is the secretary of the Armenian Union of Cinematographers.
