27 years ago a bunch of big names got together with Joel Schumacher and made a fairly standard “vacation” movie. It was a screwball idea, but it was entertaining enough.
For reasons no one can fathom, apart from some need to remake everything, we’re jumping into this well again, and while it looks really fantastic, that doesn’t change the fact that it’s a pretty goofball premise that no one was exactly looking to revisit. It looks fantastic in large part because it’s directed by Niels Arden Oplev. Rarely has there been a director that has managed to leave people scratching their heads so much over nearly a decade. Rocketing onto the scene (the American scene anyway) with 2009’s The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo, Niels then followed with the lackluster Dead Man Down, a pretty cool foreign film, Speed Walking, a few episodes of television, and now a remake of a 1990 cornball,...

There was a lot of buzz when The Strain first hit on FX, largely due to the fact that Guillermo del Toro was involved in something on television. The show has held audiences in its grip as its world became increasingly desperate, and while perhaps not quite at the top of the ratings juggernaut list, it has performed well for the network.
The series has been renewed for a fourth and final season, and while that may seem like an odd “renewing and canceling at the same time” move, that’s not really the case, and fans shouldn’t see it as a negative by any means.
As Carlton Cuse, exec. producer/writer, said in the renewal announce, the plan was originally for a story that spanned three seasons. As things became fleshed out during the creation of those three seasons, it ultimately became apparent that the best version would run four seasons,...

Despite being packed with bloodthirsty vampires, life-changing decisions, and intriguing human survivors, one of the biggest talking points from FX's The Strain has been actor Corey Stoll's noticeable wig, which has become somewhat of a character itself. Fans of the wig will have to bid farewell, however, as a photo from this Sunday's episode, "Quick and Painless", reveals Dr. Ephraim Goodweather's new, clean-shaven look.
In the fifth episode of season two, Stoll's character, Eph, will shave his head to go incognito and breach security on his quest to discuss the growing vampiric infection with national authorities.
Carlton Cuse and co-creator Guillermo del Toro have planned out the "death" of Eph's hair for quite some time, with discussions about its removal stretching back to before Stoll even took the role.
You can see how Eph fairs without his hair this Sunday night, but in the meantime, we have a full...

More humans are starting to become aware of the vampire threat and are fighting back against the strigoi, but is it too late? New photos show a vampire attack out in the open and a new friend for Gus.
"As the second season unfolds, the transformation has begun. It can no longer be denied — New York City is rapidly falling to an evil epidemic, and no one is coming to its rescue. Its citizens must fight or die. Dr. Ephraim Goodweather (Corey Stoll) and his unlikely allies tried to take down the embodiment of this evil — the Master — and failed. Now Eph and Dr. Nora Martinez (Mia Maestro) concentrate on creating a biological weapon to wipe out the creatures, while Abraham Setrakian (David Bradley) searches for an ancient book he hopes will reveal the strigoi’s entire history...and possibly a way to kill them. Meanwhile, the Master is out for revenge,...

In the season premiere of The Strain Season 2, we find that Abraham is still on the hunt for The Master, while Eph and Nora may have come up with a new plan for a cure. We have new photos from episode 202 that don't give much away, but show progress being made on both fronts. With that being said, I have a hunch that it's not going to be as easy as it looks...
