It's no joke: even the Underworld needs comic relief. Beginning on April 1st (fittingly on April Fool's Day), Sideshow Collectibles will open pre-orders for their Malavestros: Death’s Chronicler-Fool to their Court of the Dead line with a new, magnificently detailed Premium Format Figure.
From Sideshow Collectibles: "Sideshow is proud to introduce the Malavestros: Death’s Chronicler-Fool Premium Format™ Figure from our original Court of the Dead collection.
Nothing is ever what it appears to be in the Underworld, and thus it would be wise not to dismiss Malavestros as comic relief in the Court of the Dead. Despite his grotesquely playful visage and unpredictable antics, Malavestros is an invaluable cache of truth. He may choose to dispense his wisdom wrapped in morbid humor and seasoned with acerbic pranks, but that does not lessen their veracity.

“I serve this realm. I serve Death." In the world of Sideshow Collectibles' Court of the Dead, Death leads the Underworld with one goal in mind: "rise, conquer, rule." Enforcing Death's macabre mindset is Demithyle, an Exalted Reaper General who is now depicted as a new Legendary Scale Figure from Sideshow.
Currently priced at $999.99 and expected to ship between October and December of 2016, the Demithyle Legendary Scale Figure stands over 30 inches tall and weighs in at 20 pounds.
Martin Canale and the Gore Group sculpted the general's frightful features, while designer Tom Gilliland and a talented team of developers, painters, and costume fabricators helped bring the scythe-wielding skeleton to life. To learn more, visit:

A 5-year-old boy accidentally shot his 6-year-old brother just outside of Houston, Texas, on Monday morning, authorities say. The 6-year-old, identified only as Hayden, was taken to a nearby hospital with a gunshot wound to the stomach, Khou reports. "He was transported and immediately taken into surgery," Harris County Sheriff's Office Deputy Thomas Gilliland told the news station. "What I can tell you is he's critical but stable and was conscious as he went into surgery." Deputies told Kprc that investigators are looking into how the child got hold of the deadly weapon. Police say they found a toy gun on the family's front lawn.

Sideshow Collectibles “Queen Of The Dead” Premium Format Figure
Sideshow has always been known for their incredible ability to create works of art that capture the wonder and sophistication of some of pop culture’s most endearing characters. From Marvel Comics and Indiana Jones to Kratos, the God of War (one that personally adorns my shelves) and Star Wars, Sideshow always finds the soul of even the most tangential characters and makes them shine.
But what many don’t know, is that Sideshow is also in the business of crafting original creations. One of their most successful in-house projects has been their “Court of the Dead” collection. Conceived by Sideshow’s very own Tom Gilliland, “The Court of the Dead” is an original story and comic book surrounding the character Death and his associates. Many thanks to Sideshow for sending their newest member of “The Court” our way for a preview.

I first gazed upon Sideshow Collectibles' Court of the Dead series in person at the 2014 San Diego Comic-Con, and while they’ve released a number of original pieces over the years, this is their first major push in creating an original, dark fantasy world, one filled with unique characters.
Court of the Dead is spearheaded by Tom Gilliland, Sideshow's Creative Director, who gave us a personal tour of their Comic-Con booth last year, as well as an in-depth look at the new line. Seeing all of the Court of the Dead figures together and learning about Sideshow’s creative process was a fascinating experience. That being said, getting the chance to personally unbox, assemble, and photograph the Queen of the Dead Premium Format Figure, courtesy of Sideshow Collectibles, was nothing short of incredible, as she's sure to make a perfect addition to anyone's collection.

It’s difficult to outrun Death, but if you’re able to, then you’ll also have to outswim Death’s Siren, Gallevarbe. Gliding through the oceans between Heaven and Hell, Gallevarbe tricks her human prey with illusions before enveloping them in the murky waters below. This assassin of the sea has been unveiled by Sideshow Collectibles as another key character statue in their Court of the Dead line, revealing both the beautiful deception and macabre intention of Death’s Siren.

Investigators planned to charge the man Thursday, a day after the rampage in a usually quiet middle-class subdivision in Spring, Texas, said Harris County Sheriff's Deputy Thomas Gilliland. Police did not release the identities of the gunman or his victims. Gilliland described the dead as two boys, ages 4 and 14; two girls, ages 7 and 9; a 39-year-old man; and a 33-year-old woman. Check out this incredibly awesome statue of Ben Kenobi, Desert Nomad. The statue was created by Joe Allard and Tom Gilliland, and it's a representation of Obi-Wan in the years between the films Revenge of the Sith and A New Hope. The concept for the artists were to "imagine the life of Kenobi as he became the reclusive, mystical figure of Tatooine." They also went on to explain,
It also allowed us to have fun imagining both Ewan McGregor and Alec Guinness as the character, but at different ages than we have seen them in the films.
The statue was sculpted in castiline and wax, with a sculpey base. Some of the lightsabers were sculpted by hand, and Tusken Raider weapons were output from digital models (which is why they look clear).
There's a lot of great detail, and I love how they managed to combine the look of both McGregor and Guinness.

If there's a horror icon who's been memorialized in resin, vinyl, and plastic more often than Friday the 13th's Jason Voorhees, I certainly can't think of it. And now, thanks to Sideshow, we're about to get yet another incarnation of the hockey-masked killer!
Our man Nomad was privy to some sneak peeks of upcoming figures that Sideshow Collectibles was doing last week and provided us with the images you see here (click each for the larger version).
This is obviously a "work in progress" that's subject to some changes, but in the meantime, dig on its badassedness!
In addition, check out the below video in which Tom Gilliland, Creative Director of Sideshow Collectibles, discusses the design/development of the new statue:

There is a mystique surrounding Sideshow Collectibles not unlike that of Wonka’s Chocolate Factory, or the Wizard, slyly manipulating the show from behind that infamous curtain in the Emerald City of Oz. Upon arrival guests are greeted by life-sized replicas of C-3Po and R2-D2. A giant cave troll rests near the ceiling as if bursting through the wall above the reception desk that holds no receptionist. Rather, a phone sits on the desk with simple instruction to pick up for assistance. There are stairs behind us, guarded by Iron Man. Robby the Robot is there to meet you at the top in case you get lost. We’re told to wait and that someone will be with us in a moment. We wait. This place is on lock-down.
A couple of minutes later the closest door opens. We are greeted by Travis Watkins, Multimedia Manager for Sideshow.
