Mr. Gould became Chairman of the Executive Committee of Cinema Group in 1980. Cinema Group was the first Private Placement Funding for Film Financing put together by Merrill Lynch in two tranches in 1980 and 1981.
He took over as Chairman & President in mid-1982 and remained in that capacity until late 1986.
During his tenure as CEO, Cinema Group co-financed with Paramount, "Flashdance", "Staying Alive" and "StarTrek III". With New World Pictures, it co-financed "The Philadelphia Experiment" and "Children of the Corn". With Kings Road it co-financed "The Best of Times" staring Robin Williams and Kurt Russell.
In 1983-1984, Cinema Group built an IMAX Theatre at the Southern entrance to the Grand Canyon. In conjunction with the building of the theatre, it produced the IMAX film "The Grand Canyon: The Hidden Secrets", with a score by the Academy Award winning composer, Bill Conti ("Rocky").
In 1991, he co-produced "The Runestone" staring Peter Riegert, William Hickey, Tim Ryan and Lawrence Tierney. The score for the film was composed by David Newman.
Mr. Gould has been a member of the Executive Branch of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts & Screenings since 1985.
