Former Emmerdale actor Seamus Gubbins has avoided a jail sentence over a cannabis factory that he set up at his home. The 48-year-old, who played Ray Mullan on the ITV1 soap in 2001 and 2002, was arrested and charged in August after 25 plants worth up to £24,800 were found at his rented house in Walton, Liverpool. Gubbins had claimed that he was growing the plants for his own personal use and not for commercial gain.
