Conceived as a tie-in to the re-branded Lego range of Star Wars playsets, Lego Star Wars: The Yoda Chronicles features two more totally brand-new and 100% original 22 minute specials – this time based on George Lucas’ god-awful prequels, namely episodes one and two, and the adventures of Anakin, Obi-Wan Yoda and Mace Windu as they take on the evil Darth Sidious, Count Dooku and General Grevious.
In Episode I: The Phantom Clone, the action-packed adventure begins when Darth Sidious unveils his plan to create a new super-weapon — an enhanced Sith clone named Jek-14 — to help him defeat the Republic once and for all. It’s up to Jedi Master Yoda and his young Padawan students to work together and save the galaxy.

Two Irish feature length animations, Tomm Moore's 'The Secret of Kells' and 'Niko & the Way to the Stars' from directors Kari Juusonen and Michael Hegner, have both received nominations from The European Film Academy in their Animated Feature Film 2009 category. 'Niko & the Way to the Stars', co-produced by Galway based outfit Magma Films, is the adventure tale about the young reindeer Niko who is still learning how to fly. He sets out for a quest to find his father, a famous member of the legendary Santa Flying Forces. Earlier this year the film was nominated for several IFTAs including Best Animation. The film won the Best Film and Best Script "Jussi" awards at the Finnish Film Awards and picked up both the Best Film and Audience Award at the Cinekid festival in Amsterdam.

COLOGNE, Germany -- The Weinstein Co. and German distribution company Telepool have signed a distribution deal for all English-language and Latin American territories for the 3-D animated holiday film "Niko & the Way to the Stars."
The European co-production, directed by Michael Hegner and Kari Juusonen, tells the story of Niko, a little earth-bound reindeer who dreams of flying like his father, one of the elite troop that pulls Santa Claus' sleigh every Christmas. When Niko uncovers a plot by the Big Bad Wolf and his pack to replace Santa's "flying forces," Niko sets off to warn his dad.
"Niko" will have its European premiere in Scandinavia in October before rolling out around the world in time for the holiday season.
"We are very proud to have such an internationally successful film production and distribution group as the Weinstein Co. as a partner on 'Niko & the Way to the Stars, ' " said Irina Ignatiew, executive vp international at Telepool. "This extraordinary animated film is a modern-day fairy tale for the whole family."
For TWC, "Niko" fits nicely into the 3-D niche the company has established with theatrical releases like "Hoodwinked!" and direct-to-DVD titles including the "Unstable Fables" franchise.
