Charmian Carr, best known for her role as Liesl Von Trapp in The Sound of Music has died, her family confirmed in a statement. She was 73. According to a family statement Carr died on Saturday from complications from a rare form of dementia. In a note on her official website, a man identified as Steve Hughes announced that Carr had died. "My name is Steve Hughes, and my Company has been managing Charmian Carr's website for many, many years," he wrote. "Me and my family are so sad to have to post this message and will miss her dearly.

‘The Indian Cinema Century: Film Technology and the Contemporary’, an international conference celebrating the centenary year of Indian cinema will be organized by the School of Arts and Aesthetics at Jawaharlal Nehru University, Delhi.
The conference will be held from 10th to 12th January, 2013 at School of Social Sciences, Jawaharlal Nehru University. Entry is free for all.
The three day conference will look upon the evolution of cinema from its preliminary stages to what it is today. Some of the issues discussed will be the transition from silent to sound cinema, the relationship to Hollywood’s widespread presence before the Second World War, the transition to colour, and the transformations in film exhibition.
Participants from Europe, the United States, Calcutta, Bangalore and Hyderabad are expected to attend. Priya Jaikumar, Ranjani Mazumdar, Steve Hughes and Kaushik Bhaumik are some of the participating speakers.

Hollyoaks writer Steve Hughes has revealed that the soap's new online danger storyline was inspired by a real-life internet incident. Strait-laced student India Longford (Beth Kingston) will be murdered on the Channel 4 show later this week after her decision to experiment with online dating goes tragically wrong. After arranging to meet an internet acquaintance, India is expecting to come face-to-face with a handsome young admirer in Thursday's double bill - but instead she finds herself in the clutches of a sinister older man, who attacks her and dumps her body in the woods.
