Exclusive: Paradise Square‘s Chilina Kennedy, Ryan Silverman (The Phantom of the Opera), Justin Matthew Sargent (Spider-Man: Turn Off the Dark) and Ain’t No Mo’s Crystal Lucas-Perry have been cast in the upcoming Off Broadway musical A Sign of the Times featuring the songs of Petula Clark, Lesley Gore, Dusty Springfield and other ’60s hitmakers.
The York Theatre Company production begins previews February 7 at New World Stages and opens February 22.
The casting was announced today by the York in association with Richard J. Robin, President, Wells St. Productions LLC.
The cast also includes Cassie Austin, Erica Simone Barnett, Shawn Bowers, Alyssa Carol, Jeremiah Ginn, Kuppi Alec Jessop, Lena Mathews, Maggie McDowell, J Savage, Michael Starr and Edward Staudenmayer.

Bad Cinderella, Andrew Lloyd Webber’s updated musical re-telling of the classic fairy tale, will play its final Broadway performance on Sunday, June 4.
The musical, which features lyrics by David Zippel and book by Emerald Fennell, has been struggling at the box office after critical drubbings. The production received no Tony Award nominations last week – the musical will close one week before the scheduled Tony ceremony.
Box office figures for the show took a big hit after the Tony nomination shut-out, tumbling by $188,678 from the previous week to land at a small $326,303. Even with an average ticket price at a barely-there $54.33, the musical could fill only 54% of seats at the Imperial Theatre.
When it closes, Bad Cinderella will have played 33 preview performances and 85 regular performances at Broadway’s Imperial Theatre.

The Tony Awards Administration Committee met on April 11, for the second time during the 2022-2023 Broadway season, to discuss the eligibility of seven productions for the 76th Annual Tony Awards. This year’s ceremony will be held at the United Palace in Washington Heights, and will broadcast live on Sunday, June 11, 2023, on the CBS Television Network, and stream live and on demand on Paramount+. The Tony Awards are presented by The Broadway League and the American Theatre Wing.

JoAnn M. Hunter didn’t plan on becoming a choreographer. She built a successful life as a dancer with a dozen Broadway credits before ever having idea to make a career shift. She admits that a late career change is “so scary” but she soon fell in love with choreography because, as she simply states: “I love dancers.” The unique atmosphere of a rehearsal studio helped her find great satisfaction in this new line of work. “There’s a willingness to want to make the same thing, and create, and to trust. And I enjoyed that more than I ever anticipated,” she admits. Andrew Lloyd Webber will add several new songs and a brief word to the title of Bad Cinderella – formerly, in London, just Cinderella – when the musical opens on Broadway next spring.
“I am thrilled and delighted that we are bringing Bad Cinderella to the Imperial Theatre,” Webber said in announcing the Broadway engagement that will star Linedy Genao in the title role. “We have been working hard on a few new songs for our Broadway opening and, with such brilliant team, led by the spectacular Linedy, I know this is going to be really special.”
