The Society honoured 19 companies at the fifth annual Entertainment Technology And New Product Awards luncheon ceremony held at Paramount Pictures in Hollywood.
“This year, our committee was amazed at the range of entries, from lasers to hologram technology,” said awards chairman Buzz Hays, studio chief of the True Image Company. “These are amazing technologies that will be captivating movie fans and TV audiences in the next few years.”
Barco received the Lumiere statuette for its DP4K-60L Laser Projector, while Walt Disney Studios Technologies and partners Arri and Fraunhofer Institute Berlin earned an award for their Trifocal 3D Camera System and there was recognition for Dolby Labs for its extended dynamic range Dolby Vision.
Prime Focus World was honoured for its 3D Hybrid Stereo Pipeline, Volfoni 3D for its SmartCrystal Diamond theatre system, Panasonic for three new 4K cameras and recorders and View Holographics from the UK for its hologram technology system.
