Welcome back to Let’s Scare Bryan to Death, where this month we’re joined by multi-multi-multi-hyphenate horror journalist Zena Dixon, a.k.a. The Real Queen of Horror. For those few of you who aren’t familiar with Dixon, let me see if I can get through her list of bona fides in one paragraph: (deep breath) in addition to her website that features news in the horror genre, Dixon hosts a YouTube channel that celebrates all of her favorite flicks. She’s also one of the hosts of the Bloody Disgusting Podcast, and, when she gets a few minutes here and there she also makes her own short films.
Dixon selected this month’s film, James Bond III’s Def by Temptation, for a pretty simple reason: she adores it. And after giving it my first watch, I have to say I get the love for this cult...

The R&B singer H.E.R. has never cracked the Top 25 on Billboard‘s Hot Hip-Hop/R&B Songs chart. But when she releases her debut album this fall, she can rest assured that plenty of listeners will be interested: She has already amassed more than a billion streams across various digital platforms.
H.E.R.’s music is leisurely and soft, two qualities that have been out of fashion in mainstream R&B for around 15 years. Her tracks blend easily into each other, and, more importantly, into down-tempo R&B...

Chris Rock’s Top Five hits theatres this Friday and it’s as much a film about the history of hip hop as it is about the nature of comedy.
The film made a huge splash at this year’s Toronto International Film Festival for netting a $12.5-million distribution rights deal with Paramount, a pact that was largely floated by electric audience response. What helped evoke that response was the natural dialogue.
Top Five is very much a movie about people hanging around, talking nonsense. However, in between old stories and filthy jokes, one current – or one question, rather – runs through the entire film and helps give the film its title: Who are your all-time Hip Hop Top Five?
This is not a “top five” in the Nick Hornby sense, as in: “What are your top five hip hop songs about New York?” Instead, it’s a basketball question that...

HollywoodNews.com: From an updated story I published in 1992: This Sunday, 1500 of Whitney Houston’s closest friends will gather in New Jersey for her wedding to singer Bobby Brown. The ceremony will most likely be at the New Hope Baptist Church in Newark, followed by a reception at Whitney’s house near Bernardsville. Rev. Marvin Winans, brother of singers BeBe and Cece, will perform the service. Stevie Wonder will sing, possibly his old hit “You and I” or maybe something new that he’s written for the occasion.

“Every important black person in show business will be there,” says a black journalist who’s on the Whitney watch twenty four hours a day. Freddie Jackson is bringing Toukie Smith. Ashford and Simpson will be there. Dionne Warwick of course. The ubiquitous Winans, too. (Last month, Whitney...

Every day, come rain or shine or internet tubes breaking, Film School Rejects showcases a trailer from the past. This trailer features a bad mutha. What? I’m just talkin’ about the vintage trailer of the day. Richard Roundtree is cooler than Freddie Jackson sipping on a milkshake in a snow storm as he throws dudes out of windows, wears a badass jacket, and cuts people down. Hotter than Bond. Cooler than Bullitt. Check out the trailer for yourself: Let the film marketers of the past sell you on their movie by checking out more VTOTDs...

Beverly Hills, California — By now, you know that Quentin Tarantino's "Inglourious Basterds" is in theaters on Friday. You know it's got Nazi killers, scalpings galore and dialogue cooler than Freddie Jackson sipping a milkshake in a snowstorm. But where does it take Quentin's unique universe?
For the answer to that question, we went straight to the stars to get the scoop on Tarantino's unique filmmaking ways — past, present and future.
The Foot Thing — Hey, whatever Quentin is into is the dude's own business. But when you think about all those lingering foot shots of Uma Thurman ("Kill Bill" and "Pulp Fiction"), Bridget Fonda ("Jackie Brown") and the girls of "Death Proof," coupled with John Travolta's foot-massage speech in "Pulp Fiction" and...

Whitney Houston looked great and sounded even better Tuesday night in New York at her listening party for I Look to You. Houston waited until all nine new tracks were previewed at the event before she came out and addressed the people.
The Grammy-winner walked onstage and danced as her cover of "I Sing For You" played. She also went into the crowd and gave hugs and kisses to some family and friends. After the song, Houston took the mic.
"Thank you all for coming," she said, dressed in a black dress. "I'm truly humbled by this experience. I had other plans about three years ago to live on this little island and open a fruit stand.
