Normally I wouldn’t bother with so much of a bio but when it came to looking around for information on Jill Jacobson and finding very little it became necessary to dig something up that was kind amusing to me since you don’t often see this in regards to anyone unless it’s being used as satire. Deep in the L.A. Desert, a gullible cult lead by the influential and ever, ever so slightly mad and deluded preacher – Thomas Reanhauer (Bill Roy) work “hard” to bring a recently deceased boy back to life by the power of chanting and spiritual mumbo-jumbo. The unfortunate child had died when Reanhauer informed the child’s mother not to give hime his insulin because religious freedom I guess? Naturally, all of this hard work combined with being stuck In The Middle Of The Desert takes its toll on Reanhauer and as a result, suffers a massive heart attack. He is instantly taken to hospital where he refuses treatment due to his beliefs (why we still allow that shit, I’ll never know…...

This year’s South By Southwest Film Conference and Festival (SXSW 2015), which will run from March 13-21 in Austin, Texas, has unveiled the lineup for its beloved Midnighters section, which aims to showcase the best and brightest in genre filmmaking, from thriller to horror to science-fiction. Attendees will witness 11 titles including nine world premieres at Midnighters this year, with filmmakers like Karyn Kusama and Rodney Ascher in the mix.
SXSW’s senior programmer Jarod Neece commented on the Midnighters lineup, stating:
“Creepy, clever, engrossing, and frightening are just a few words that come to mind when I think about this year’s SXSW Midnighters lineup. These nine world premieres and two festival favorites are helmed by five first-time filmmakers and several SXSW alumni.”
