Jane Milmore, a showrunner and Emmy-nominated writer who was a scribe on sitcoms including The Hughleys, Martin and The Wayans Bros, died Tuesday after a 15-month battle with pancreatic cancer. She was 64.
A showrunner with more than 300 hours of TV comedy to her credit, Milmore created and developed shows for Brooke Shields, Don Rickles, Olympia Dukakis and the Wayans brothers and wrote and produced for Bob Newhart, D.L. Hughley, Jamie Lee Curtis, Richard Lewis, John Goodman, Andrew Dice Clay and Martin Lawrence among others.
Milmore and her writing partner, Billy Van Zandt, were Emmy-nominated for 1990’s I Love Lucy: The Very First Show, and she won a People’s Choice Award and an NAACP Image Award for Martin and a Prism Award for The Hughleys. She co-created with Van Zandt Daddy Dearest, the 1993 sitcom starring Lewis and Rickles, and also appeared as an actress in more than a dozen TV shows.

Disney Xd, the network that will launch in February following the rebranding of Toon Disney, has greenlighted a live-action pilot about a rock band from creators Michael Kaplan and Ron Rappaport.
The multicamera project, titled "I'm With the Band," centers on a tween boy who gets hired as the lead guitar player for a Spinal Tap-type band that was popular in the '80s and is looking to make a comeback.
Veteran sitcom director Shelley Jensen, whose credits range from Disney Channel's "Hannah Montana" to "The Jamie Foxx Show" and "The Drew Carey Show," is on board to helm the pilot.
Kaplan is executive producing, with Rappaport serving in a producing capacity.
Kaplan, who has worked on such sitcoms as "Frasier" -- for which he shared a best series Emmy in 1997 -- and "Girlfriends," is repped by Icm and attorney Peter Nelson. Rappaport (MTV's "Next") is repped by Icm.

Jenna Mattison will star in and produce the indie feature The Third Wish, a romantic comedy which she also wrote. TV director Shelley Jensen is helming. The project, which starts shooting this week in Los Angeles, is a rags-to-riches story of a bookstore clerk (Mattison) who is given three wishes after finding a first-edition copy of Charles Dickens' Great Expectations. Also cast are Sean Maguire, Armand Assante, Betty White and James Avery. Scott Seligman of Skyway Prods. will executive produce. Mattison is repped by attorney Rick Rosen. Jensen is repped by ICM.
