Lamont Johnson was born on September 30, 1922 in Stockton, California, USA as Ernest Lamont Johnson Jr. He was a director and actor, known for Wallenberg: A Hero's Story (1985), Lincoln (1988) and That Certain Summer (1972). He was married to Tony Johnson. He died on October 24, 2010 in Monterey, California.

Attended UCLA.
Schooled at Pasadena City College. First performed in radio drama and worked as a radio announcer. Acted at the Pasadena Playhouse. During World War II was classified as unfit for military service due to health problems, but worked with the USO entertaining troops in Europe. In the 1950s and 1960s made a name for himself as a director of seminal television episodes, particularly The Twilight Zone (1959). Later specialized in made-for-TV movies and miniseries.
Had tuberculosis of the leg as a child, and was an invalid until age 10.
