The “Ted” prequel series has been renewed for Season 2 at Peacock, Variety has learned.
Originally presented as an event series, the seven-episode first season of “Ted” debuted on the streamer in January. It serves as a prequel to the two “Ted” feature films, which were released in 2012 and 2015.
Per Peacock, the show became its most-watched original title to date and was also the top streaming comedy in the U.S. for more than two consecutive months, according to Nielsen data.
The series takes place in the early 1990s in Framingham, Mass. It follows the lives of Ted (voiced by Seth MacFarlane) and his 16 year old best friend, John (Max Burkholder). Ted’s fame has waned and he is now once again living with John and his family.
The series also stars Scott Grimes and Alanna Ubach as John’s parents, Matty and Susan, along with Giorgia Whigham as John’s cousin Blaire.

This article contains spoilers for The Orville, Star Trek: The Original Series, and Star Trek: Strange New Worlds.
Featuring broad comedy and characters who don’t seem to be taking their jobs very seriously, the first trailer for The Orville suggested that the Fox series would be a spoof of Star Trek.
In said trailer, Captain Mercer (Seth MacFarlane) tries to eat a marble and asks an alien to move over so he is framed better in the viewscreen. Lt. Gordon Malloy (Scott Grimes) drinks beer while on duty, flying a shuttle, at 9:15 a.m. Commander Kelly Grayson’s (Adrianne Palicki) former marriage to Mercer is treated to rather stale “comic” arguments about going to therapy. Mercer’s reaction to Lt. Commander Bortus’s (Peter Macon) species being entirely male is to observe, with truly cutting and original wit, that they probably don’t have many arguments about leaving the toilet seat up.

The Orville, a sci-fi show starring Seth MacFarlane, Adrianne Palicki, Scott Grimes, Penny Johnson Jerald, and J. Lee, among others in primary roles, initially aired on Fox for the first two seasons — Hulu later picked it up for its third season. The show is created (written and directed) by MacFarlane himself and follows the story of a spacecraft called the USS Orville and the employees who work there. But what makes it different from other space-exploring sci-fi flagbearers like Star Trek or Battlestar Galactica? Well, The Orville has this unique blend of MacFarlane’s signature humor, a focus on character-driven...

Spoiler warning for all of Star Trek!
All through the second season of Star Trek: Picard, one burning question was left unasked and unanswered – what happened (or didn’t happen) between Jean-Luc Picard and Beverley Crusher?
One of the major themes of the season was Picard’s romantic history and his difficulty building and maintaining a romantic relationship with anyone. But despite their history as a possible couple, explored in an episode of Star Trek: The Next Generation (“Attached”) in which they confronted their unspoken feelings for each other, not to mention the alternate future in which they were divorced (“All Good Things”), their flirtation while under the influence of an alien illness (“The Naked Now”), and all those cosy breakfasts in Picard’s quarters, not once in all these conversations about Picard’s romantic past was Crusher’s name so much as mentioned.

After a delay due to Covid, the third season of The Orville debuted on Hulu last summer, but fans have been anxiously awaiting word of the series’ fate ever since. The Orville isn’t cheap to produce and isn’t exactly a ratings juggernaut, which means that season 4 is far from guaranteed. Still, the sci-fi series has a passionate fanbase and while the possibility of its return may be slight, it still exists.
TVLine‘s Matt Mitovich asked Craig Erwich, President of ABC Entertainment and Hulu & Disney Branded Television Streaming Originals, about the possibility of The Orville season 4. “We don’t have anything to share right now,” Erwich said. “It’s a great show and I know that the fans loved having it back in their lives. And Seth [MacFarlane] did a great job, uniquely as he can, in front of and behind the camera. But we don’t have anything to share right now.

"The Orville" seems to be the little ship that could. Seth MacFarlane's show about 25th-century space exploration and a misfit space crew has survived a pandemic, cancellation, and a move from broadcast to streaming. Now the show is left to deal with a future unknown (which doubled as the Season 3 finale episode title ... Seth MacFarlane you clever devil), and cast members are divulging some secrets from the first three seasons.
Since its 2017 debut, "The Orville" has grown with each season from a simple punchline model into a series that tackles complicated issues such as race and gender. Maybe even too complex, some cast members might tell you, at least when it comes to keeping the scripts straight. With the show's growth and the chaos caused by a pandemic that briefly shut down the film and TV industry, the cast of "The Orville" decided it's just easier to not read the scripts ahead of time.

It feels like Seth MacFarlane's sci-fi parody series "The Orville" has already gone to infinity ... and beyond. The series is set 400 years in the future and follows the exploits of Captain Ed Mercer (MacFarlane) and his diverse crew on the USS Orville. The show is mostly an homage to "Star Trek" and like its progressive predecessor, it doesn't shy away from hot-button issues of the moment such as racism and xenophobia.
The first two seasons of "The Orville" aired on Fox, and after a three-year layoff, returned on Hulu as "The Orville: New Horizons." And before the third season aired, they lost a beloved cast member when Norm Macdonald passed away. Macdonald was the voice for the CGI gelatinous blob and senior ship engineer Yaphit. The choice of Macdonald as Yaphit was an easy one for MacFarlane, who was familiar with Macdonald from his work on "Family Guy." Macdonald's...

One of the many horror classics we received from director Wes Craven was the 1977 film The Hills Have Eyes… but when he brought us a sequel the following decade, things didn’t turn out so well. The Hills Have Eyes Part 2 (watch it Here), released in 1985, has a reputation for being a mess – and is known as “the movie where a dog has a flashback”. To find out what went wrong behind the scenes on this sequel, check out the new episode of Wtf Happened to This Horror Movie? in the embed above!
Scripted by Craven, The Hills Have Eyes Part 2 has the following synopsis:
Ignoring the warnings of a survivor of the earlier gruesome ordeal, a group of youngsters set out to take the desert road again. When their bus runs short of gas and they are stranded in the middle of nowhere, the crazed mutants reappear, their blood lust unabated.

In 2017, Seth MacFarlane created the sci-fi comedy-drama, "The Orville," as a homage to the original "Star Trek" and its "Next Generation" successor. Despite its appreciation for "Stark Trek," "The Orville" never shies away from parodying the source material it is so inspired by, subverting space drama tropes in the process. Season 3 of the show, titled "The Orville: New Horizons," which premiered in June this year, continues the tradition of pushing narrative boundaries and expanding a rich world filled with possibilities.
The basic premise of "The Orville" follows series protagonist Ed Mercer (MacFarlane), the captain of the USS Orville, a space exploratory vessel in the 25th century. The show delves into the adventures of the ship's crew, which include thwarting a rebellion by genetically-advanced robots and standing up to the aggressive, xenophobic Krills. While the show has been well-received by critics, talks about a potential season 4 are still unfolding, which prompted...

"The Orville," a comedy series inspired by "Star Trek," is the story of a group of Planetary Union members who set off to explore new worlds in the 25th century. For two seasons the series created by Seth MacFarlane aired on Fox. After a three-year hiatus, lengthened by the global pandemic, viewers finally got a third season. This time around, the show was re-titled "The Orville: New Horizons," and it moved from Fox to Hulu.
MacFarlane explained the move from network to streaming in a statement at the time (via TVLine):
" ... as the show has evolved and become more ambitious production-wise, I determined that I would not be able to deliver episodes until 2020, which would be challenging for the network. So we began to discuss how best to support the third season in a way that worked for the show."

Warning: Major spoilers ahead for season 3 of "The Orville."
Seth MacFarlane's "The Orville" is a sci-fi spectacle that takes inspiration from "Star Trek" and other space dramas, but the core of the show is its complex characters. Season 3 of the show, which dropped on Hulu two months ago, continues the story of the USS Orville and its crew's struggles to maintain peace in the galaxy. The Kaylons attacked the ship at the end of season 2 as a part of their plan to destroy biological life-forms, but the crew members managed to survive with the help of Isaac (Mark Jackson), a Kaylon himself.
MacFarlane chose to open season 3 of the show by shifting the focus back to its characters, who are members of factions that have their own socio-political motivations. In an interview with Syfy Wire, MacFarlane explained the reason behind ending season 3 with Isaac and Dr. Claire's (Penny Johnson Jerald...

This review of The Orville: New Horizons contains spoilers.
The Orville: New Horizons Season 3 Episode 10
The episode title “Future Unknown” represents so many aspects of what is occurring both on and off screen within the Orville universe. Most notably, the show is still awaiting word on an official renewal from Hulu and parent-company Disney. Yes, fans want to know about their beloved show, and what is going to happen in our reality, but within the fictional reality of the series, there’s much to deal with as well.
After last week’s universe-shaking episode, “Domino,” there was a major shift in the dynamic of the overall story. An uneasy peace was reached with the Kaylon, the Union found themselves up against a new antagonistic alliance, and most importantly: we lost spitfire Ensign Charly Burke when she sacrificed herself to save the Kaylon race and, in turn, foster that aforementioned fragile truce.

When The Orville: New Horizons premiered on Hulu earlier this summer, it was the first time in a while that fans had seen the crew of the U.S.S. Orville and now the team is gearing up for the Season 3 finale. But ahead of the upcoming episode stars Peter Macon, Mark Jackson, Penny Johnson Jerald, Jessica Szohr, J. Lee, Anne Winters, and Chad L. Coleman dropped by the TV Insider and TV Guide Magazine studio, sponsored by Hollywood unBranded, at San Diego Comic-Con to chat about what’s next and reflect on the show’s long-awaited return. It only took “about a hundred years,” star Penny Johnson Jerald jokes with TV Insider’s Damian Holbrook in the video interview above. But it was well worth the wait as the cast worked long and hard on bringing fans the best possible show. (Credit: Hulu) “When you work with the people...

The Orville: New Horizons Season 3 Episode 7
Creator and showrunner Seth MacFarlane is seizing every opportunity with the third season of The Orville. This Hulu streaming renaissance has already proved itself to be the show’s most mature, poignant, and character-driven season to date.
One needs to look no further than the title of this episode to see one of its central messages. “From Unknown Graves” is a line from “The Witnesses,” a poem written in the 19th century by Henry Wadworth Longfellow which outlines the crimes committed in America against slaves.
The central story (as there are many threads within this episode) opens on a gray-alien suburban street. There are two children who are excited when they spot their father’s car pulling into the driveway, asking if he finally brought some coveted gift home to them. The father pushes a...

The Orville: New Horizons Season 3 Episode 3
“To many humans, a mystery is irresistible. It must be solved.” Wise words from arguably the wisest of Captains in modern television history, Jean-Luc Picard. A quotation that encapsulates not only human behavior, but one of the Roddenberry mottos that often serves as a driving force for these fictional travelers to explore strange new worlds.
The production team of The Orville: New Horizons embraced this motto long ago. No matter the danger, the Orville pushes through the eternal darkness of space looking for answers, and that’s what makes episode three: “Mortality Paradox” one of the more intriguing adventures the crew has had.
Lieutenant Keyali (Jessica Szohr) returns from a week’s long leave where she was apparently visiting her parents. She checks in with Commander Grayson (Adrianne Palicki) as soon as she’s back on the ship,...

The Orville: New Horizons Season 3 Episode 2
The season 3 premiere of The Orville: New Horizons reinforced why this show picked up in popularity in its second season. It was poignant and character-driven, but not without the trademark Seth MacFarlane humor and sense of adventure. It accomplished so much, as well, introducing new characters, new dynamics, story threads that will undoubtedly be revisited and gave audience members the sense that this new era on Hulu is in fact a shinier “new horizon.”
It’s often the case that when someone is pitching an idea or presenting something to an audience, that they should start with a bang, and grab the attention of said audience. What is also common practice is that one of your weakest ideas should be sandwiched somewhere early on, often in the second spot. The writing team of The Orville...

Much like the titular ship roaming the galaxy searching for adventure, The Orville found itself hopping from platform to platform in recent years. Despite a lukewarm reception to the first season, Fox had announced that The Orville had been renewed for a third season, as the show had found a more comfortable niche, and a steady audience in season 2.

One of the best things about "Star Trek: Deep Space Nine" is the show's dedication to complex interpersonal relationships on board the space station. Throughout the series, there were a number of great pairings as different crew members realized that their friendships or work partnerships had turned into something else. Captain Sisko (Avery Brooks) fell in love with the fiery transport captain Kasidy Yates (Penny Johnson Jerald), Security Chief Odo (Rene Auberjonois) found a perfect partner in former terrorist and current second-in-command Kira Nerys (Nana Visitor), and Cardassian spy/tailor Garak (Andrew Robinson) and suave doctor Julian Bashir (Alexander Siddig) have a will...

There’s no surprise given year when known quantities turn out career-best work in any given year — of course, Penélope Cruz is going to soar as a conflicted mother in the latest Pedro Almodóvar film, Benedict Cumberbatch will kill it as a repressed cattle rancher in a Jane Campion film, and Kate Winslet will nail the rough edges of a Pennsylvania police detective in freefall.
But that also means plenty of fresh faces and new talents get the chance to emerge out of the year’s best films and TV series. A watercooler sensation like “The White Lotus,” featuring a sprawling and diverse cast, meant many audiences were tuning into at least a few key new performers making their breakout bows.
