Johnson's stage play "Gramercy Park is Closed to the Public" was produced by The New York Stage and Film Company during their summer Powerhouse Theatre Festival in 1999. The production starred Nicole Ari Parker, David Warshovsky, and Eddie Cahill. It was directed by Judy Minor.
Johnson's autobiographical novella Homegoing won Accents Publishing's inaugural novella contest and was released in May of 2021.
