The last time we saw Kollywood's leading action star, Suriya, he was playing kung fu fighting conjoined twins in K.V. Anand's medical action thriller, Maattrraan. That film, while okay, never really delivered on the promise that is inherent in a medical action thriller about a pair of kung fu fighting conjoined twins. This time around Suriya is returning to a role that has become iconic in Singam 2. The first Singam film was a huge success in Kollywood, but inspired an even bigger success story with its Bollywood remake in 2011, Ajay Devgan's Singham. This time around it looks like more of the same, but the first one was ridiculously entertaining, so I'm okay with that. This first look teaser does exactly what it says on...

Movie Review: "Mattrraan"; Star cast: Suriya, Kajal Agarwal and Sachin Khedekar; Director: K.V. Anand; Rating: **1/2 - Suriya shines, film disappoints.
Indian filmmakers please wake up from your slumber and realize audiences are no longer willing to sit through films with a cliched plot and extended running time.
"Mattrraan" only promises the potential of actor Suriya, but fails to arouse interest due to its stretched second half and lacklustre narration.

Actor Jeeva’s first spell in film industry wasn’t successful until he joined hands with director Ameer for the film ‘Ram’. Following this success, there was no turning back for the actor as he continuously geared up for more offbeat films including ‘Ee’ and ‘Kattradhu Tamizh’. All of sudden, the actor suddenly shifted his focus towards commercial genres and of course, it’s been a hat trick with the success of ‘Thennavattu’, ‘Siva Manasula Sakthi’ and ‘Kacheri Arambam’.
Right now, the actor has got many projects rolling at the same time. He has almost completed shooting for ‘Singam Puli’, the film which features him in dual roles. 95% of his film other ‘Ko’, which is directed by K.V. Anand, has been completed. Maybe, for most of the genuine fans of Surya, K.V. Anand, the film ‘Ayan’ might have been an excellent film, but the fact is that it was copycatted from various Hollywood movies. For the second time, they will be joining hands together for a big budget movie produced by Ags Entertainment.
The producers in Ags Entertainment have been carelessly spending their money into various projects that in no way have earned them profit so far.
Right now, K.V. Anand is busy copycatting some of the sequences from Hollywood’s ‘State of Play’ that had Russell Crowe in lead role. ‘Ko’ has Jeeva, Karthika, Ajmal and Piyaa in lead roles and will have the audio launch in August.
The project of Surya and K.V. Anand will take off by February 2011 soon after the release of Surya’s ‘7 Aum Arivu’.

Young Superstar Silambarasan has been confusing himself choosing the best projects and dropping them literally. Be it topmost filmmakers like Ram Gopal Varma or comedy actors, they have all started focalizing their attention on Ashram jokes. Much importantly, Swami Nithyanandha and his affair with Ranjitha have made it more interesting for them. When Ram Gopal Varma is busy making preproduction researches on ‘God and Sex’, K.V. Anand too has interwoven this issue in his upcoming film ‘Ko’. Featuring Jeeva in the lead role of a photo journalist, an entire incident gets shot in montages over a camera and its’ something that happened in the Ashram. It’s mainly because of this, he gets chased over the roads and the scene pertaining to this situation was shot in Pondicherry followed by Bangalore. The film’s couple of schedules has been completed and is fast rolling on the floors. Harris Jayaraj has scored music for this film, which is produced by Rs Infotainment.

Actors Jeeva and Ajmal share a similarity now and it’s all about enacting dual roles in their respective projects. When Jeeva is playing dual role in this film ‘Singam Puli’, Ajmal too is enacting the same double action in his other film. Since, these two actors have been concentrating more time into their projects; K.V. Anand is finding it very difficult to handle the schedules of ‘Ko’.
Both Jeeva and Ajmal are playing the lead roles in this film and they are unable to make it possible together on the shooting sets at the same time.
Meanwhile, the first schedule is somehow is fast wrapping up in Bangalore and K.V. Anand is managing to complete the shooting very soon as possible.

It is very much evident that Surya has the tendency of joining hands again with the same filmmaker, who has given him a big hit. Gowtham Menon, Hari and A.R. Soon after completing the shooting of his present film ‘Ko’, K.V. Anand has decided to join hands with Surya for yet another film. This will be produced by none other than Telugu producer Allu Aravind, who has churned out blockbuster like Aamir Khan’s ‘Ghajini’ and ‘Magadheera’.

Silambarasan has become very much sharper in choosing the scripts. It’s so evident with the way he refused working for K.V. Anand’s ‘Ko’ due to some loopholes he found in the script. And again, it was same with Boopathy Pandian, who was supposed to direct his other film produced by filmmaker Lingusamy under the banner name of Tirupathi Brothers.
Now, buzzes are that Lingusamy himself has decided to direct Simbhu’s next film. Though nothing has been revealed even by his closer circles, it seems that the director will make official confirmations on the release date of his upcoming film ‘Paiyya’.
‘Paiyya’ starring Karthi and Thamannah in lead roles was supposed to release in February and with the unexpected success of ‘Asal’ and ‘Theeratha Vilayattu Pillai’, the theatre owners have no ideas about releasing news films. Apparently, ‘Paiyya’ will be released somewhere in March.
