He was a minor cowboy star of the silent era who is most famous for
being shot and killed by his wife, Sarah, a screen "double", at a
drunken party at their home in Hollywood. According to AP headlines
from Hollywood in the NY Times archives, Kerrick was drunk on gin and
getting too friendly with other women at the party and supposedly,
after refusing coffee offered to him by Sarah, she borrowed a pistol
from a party guest and shot him. Police were quoted as saying Kerrick
was done in by "gin and jealousy". Within a month, a jury of nine women
and three men convicted Sarah and four others at the party of
manslaughter.
