Joined Toei Animation Film Production in the late 50s as animator. In
1964 he is promoted to animation director with the TV series "Boy Ninja
Fujimaru". The next year he quitted Toei to join A Pro. Studio (within
Tokyo Movie Production), where he did the animation direction of the TV
series "Ghost Qtaro" and "Pa-Man". But his most famous work for the
Studio was "Star of Giants" (1968-71). He also did the animation
direction of the four films that TV series spawned, and debuted in
movies with the first of them in 1969. When A Pro. transformed in
Shin'Ei (New A) in the late 70s, Kusube was promoted to supervising
director starting with "Doraemon" in 1979. Thus, Kusube also took
charge of supervising the Doraemon films from the first one till the
20th (1980-98).
