- British band leader. Studied piano, violin and viola at the Royal Academy of Music on a scholarship. Saw action during the First World War. Played violin with the 'Savoy Orpheans' during the 1920's. From 1930, led his own dance orchestra with long residencies at London's Piccadilly Hotel. Remained active until the 1950's.
