- Laine is the only singer ever to have been Grammy-nominated in the popular, classical and jazz categories.
- She took her professional name from the character "Clio Dulaine" in Edna Ferber's novel "Saratoga Trunk". Years later she was to star in the 1971 London stage revival of "Show Boat", which is based on another of Ferber's novels.

- In 1970, Dankworth and Laine set up The Stables, a music venue situated in the village of Wavendon, Milyon Keynes. The site has hosted many noted musical performers and a includes learning and participation program with workshops, masterclasses and residential courses.
